10 years ago I was about to turn 30 - I had one child who was a year old. I worked as the CFO of a multi-national in DC. I would never have imagined that in 10 years I would have 4 more children, be full time mama and homeschooling ! It has been the most incredible 10 years of my life - a rediscovering of our Catholic faith, a complete change of parenting style, and a complete revamping of our values and lifestyle. I have a lot more grey hairs, a few more health problems and a lot less money I have learned more about everything than I learned in 7 years of college.
I am feeling a litte sad and introspective just because of the popular belief about 40 being the "beginning of middle age" - but then I think of the last 10 years and can only hope that the next 10 will be just as exciting (and productive )
Thanks for listening - this was supposed to be my first blog post - but after lots of prayer I have decided to hold off on the blog until I am a little more organized and have done some off the things I have been putting off for a while.

Good idea, Marilyn, to look back ten years, to see where you were....
what about the rest of you...where were YOU ten years ago? Are you where you thought you would be? Or, is your life a surprise?

You've come a long way, baby!
Isn't it amazing how different our lives turn out than the way we pictured it? I always wanted to be a SAHM with a bunch of kids, but this whole homeschooling thing, now that was not in the plan!
Here to the next 40 years!

I loved everything you said- especially about completely changing your values and lifestyle.
I catch a lot of grief about giving up my career... but now I can say I did not give up anything; I changed my values and my lifestyle. I never knew how to put that in words. Thank you!

That is so awesome, Marilyn! It's so true we never know what tomorrow will bring, much less ten years down the road.
Ten years ago was 31, living on a farm in Florida, contentedly homeschooling my 7, 8, and 13 year olds, and chasing around my energetic 2yo Superboy.
Little did I know that 2yo would be my last living biological child and that 10 years later I would be(at 41) heading for Alaska, contentedly homeschooling 4, 6, and 12 year olds and chasing my energetic 2yo grandson!
What a wonderful ride!
