I woke up this morning at 2 am and started thinking about all the little things we have to do before Christmas. The list doesn't seem that long, but some of these things take a lot of time.
Return the library books and videos after Mass
Bake some Christmas cookies. (It's nice to have a working oven again.)
Finish wrapping 18dd's presents
Address and send out Christmas cards
Watch "Miracle on 34th Street" I've never seen it before
Confession
COSTCO
Exchange gifts with my mom and brothers
Make a trip to the dump
Decorate the house for Christmas
So how long is your to-do list?

You have some major stuff on there Ruth and you just had a baby. Better let the kids decorate the house and do Epiphany cards this year. (I am.)
My list is broken up into days and is all cooking and cleaning chores. Except Sunday.
Mass
decorate church
dinner at my SIL's for dh's side of the family
Happy tasking!

Not much of a to-do here being 36.5 weeks...at least, not Christmas related! Like Bridget, it's mostly cleaning:
vacuum and dust living room
declutter coffee table
I just hate looking at old Christmas photos seeing the ICK in the background from not having tidied up the living room before Christmas Day.
Baking is fairly normal part of our week, so I'm sure we'll get cookies done by Christmas, as well as preparing some sort of dessert to take to my mil's house.
Cards? Well, I think we might do either Epiphany cards or wait until this little one arrives and send out a family photo to friends and relatives. I'm not stressing over it, that is for sure.

Oh, I really didn't want to commit this to writing, but
here 'tis...
And, Ruth, I suggest you decorate the house with a simple nativity scene, put all the gifts in a big red bag for distribution, use ready made sugar cookies dough, roll it out, and give the kids cookie cutters, and, yes, watch "Miracle on 34th Street".
Take it easy, my friend.

We have a big list too!
-Dh's work Christmas party which includes children is tonight, so baths, and semi-formal attire, and some hair cuts
-Got shopping done last night, but not everything is put away
-Finish my baking, I've hardly begun, dh says we will do this together! ;o)
-Finish the gift wrapping
-I have yet to finish Raggedy Andy's hair, I sewed a set of Raggedy Dolls for my Baby Zoe, and I need another two hours!
-Can't find my glue gun to put together our foamy Gingerbread houses and Pompom Nativity sets!!!! Ack! We moved, and I cannot find it!
After all this, I will happily begin a new baby sweater for our new little one, I am soooo looking forward to relaxing and crocheting it!

P.S. My mom is one of those all year long already prepared for Christmas by Dec. 1st... I am thinking about trying to adopt this for next year!

Great advice, Cay. I'm actually not feeling much like decorating this year. We'll definately set up our nativity scene outside this weekend. I just want it all to be simple. I love the idea of the ready made sugar cookie dough.
After reading your list, Cay, I realized I have not even thought about our Christmas meal. Hopefully, I'll find everything we need at COSTCO.

Yikes!
Mine is almost 2 pages long. Although I admit I did get yesterday's stuff done. I write every little thing down or it's gone from my memory
My parents are coming for dinner on Christmas day and we're splitting the meal. She'll do half at her house and we'll do half here. Cleaner and easier. They're only 1 1/2 hrs away.
Today is pretty much dedicated to baking. And wrapping the presents that came in the mail yesterday. Whew!
A major clean up is in store here as we've been soo busy with our craft sales that it's taken over the living room. But that will begin this evening and continue into tomorrow.
We put up the tree and decorate on Christmas Eve. That day's pretty much dedicated to that. And lots of reading squeezed in there too.
Which reminds me. I'd better get off here and get busy!

I asked Kevin to get me some at the store.
Poor man, he came home with wine, chocolate and pizza. He wanted to cover all bases.

All I'm going to say is that my to-do list is so long (especially considering that it all needs to get done in the next 17 hours before we leave for our Christmas tour) that I really, really shouldn't be lurking here . . .

Well, I just want to say that this year I am flying by the seat of my pants! LOL! I did get most of the shopping done last night. The Christmas meal has not even been thought about, and the decorations don't get put up until the eve of Christmas eve. Last year we started a little tradition of a tea on Christmas eve, but it made us run a little late for the early Children's liturgy so it has to be done earlier this year.
My brother called yesterday and said that he will not be here for Christmas either. I am praying that God take the lonliness feelings away and that I truly enjoy the holidays with just my husband and children. (I grew up the youngest of 9 so there were always many people around. Since we moved here we are just too far to go back to where I came from or even where DH's brother is.) For the last two years, my favorite brother who is a truck driver was here with his daughter. This year he didn't make it home for any of the holidays, so I'm just a bit blue, especially hearing about all your gatherings with family.
Anyway, perhaps I better start planning a list!
God bless,
Kristen in TN

I still have shopping to do, which means driving to Asheville 50 miles away, since I have pretty much "done" my little town. That is the plan for this afternoon/evening.
Worse yet, is I still have NO IDEA what I am going to get my 18yo dd. I am rapidly running out of options.I also still need something for Superboy. The littles (and ds16) are DONE, except that Dh is out picking up lumber to make them a train table for the train set they are getting. He will build it and I will paint it.
I have most of the food for the feast (we are doing lamb this year, as it was such a big hit at Easter and we don't care for ham).Still need to pick up a few side items. No biggie.
The house is fairly clean, but could use some last-minute touch-ups.Decorating is done.
Still need to do the gingerbread house and make cookies with the kiddos. Then I need to do some baking for gifts. I am going to try making biscotti (sp?) for the first time. I need to hunt down recipes for that.
And I have yet to read our Jan Brett Christmas Treasury to the kids. That is an absolute MUST DO!
Well, better get busy!

My "to do" list is rapidly turning into a "to don't" list... it will just have to be a different Christmas this year....

*Get a tree and decorate it.
*Let the little guys decorate the cookies (dough made, but cookies not baked)
*Plan the meals for the next week to appease my brother who wants all the complex and delicious and spicy Mexican food like my mom makes (yikes, got to call my mom for a recipe) and my father-in-law who only eats American
*Wrap a few gifts
*make audio tapes of the kids playing piano and singing O Come O Come Emmanuel
*Figure out what candied citron is and where to get it (PM me if you have ideas ok?) so we can make stollen. The kids read about it in Fig Pudding and want to make it.
*Clean up a bit
*Get rid of a sinus headache
It still feels doable....

Me, too, Anne, and I'm not about to have a baby!
Top on my list right now is to wake up dh from his "20 minute power nap"--he's been asleep for an hour and a half.
