Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm hosting some middle schoolers tonight for a get together, I have a few ideas for games but if you know some good ones please send them my way. We are planning on flash light tag but it may be to wet and chilly for that so a few extras up my sleeve could come in handy. It is a co-ed event if that helps.

We have a game Mary Chris. It's called Art Museum!

You choose 2 people, one to be tour guide and one to be the tourist. Everyone else sets themselves up somewhere in a pose and freezes, like "statues". Then the tour guide goes around (using a flashlight, indoors or out) trying to make the statues move, laugh or talk by telling the tourist a funny story about that statue. If you move, laugh or talk you are out. But the tour guide has to catch you moving with the flashlight beam. So some statues change poses while the tour guide isn't looking. The last statue standing wins.

We have a card game too...it's called Spoons (have you heard of it). You need a deck of cards and a bunch of spoons. My dd says it's too hard to type out how to do it...we'll tell you there. It's for any number of kids (at least 3 or more).

Oh and one more idea, but it has no name.

You have the kids lay down with all their heads together and their legs pointing out...like a big star sort of. Then they have to count, one at a time, and they can't speak at the same time and they can't repeat. So it's hard because you don't know when someone is about to say a number, and you have to say it before someone else says it. When they mess up they start all over again. It's fun to see how high they get!

Spoons is awesome! And the counting game was always one of the favs when I taught middle school. The alphabet works for that, too.
Capture the flag is a good one if you have enough kids.
