Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I just let my toddler "cry it out" for the first time (for him and me). He cried for 52 minutes and finally went to sleep. I feel terrible about it but I really had to do it. He is 2 and not a good sleeper. There is just so much I need to do with the other kids during the day. I feel really bad but really happy that he did finally go to sleep.

This is such a big deal for this AP Mom. I've never done it before so I thought I'd come here and share.

That is such a hard thing to do, I know. Some kids just fight so hard against what you know they need. Hang in there, Mom.

I know how you feel, Melissa! It's hard not to feel like the worst mom in the world when they are screaming in their bed. I found it to be worth it though -- when my daughter learned to put herself to sleep it was such a good thing for our family. She likes to go to bed now and will play until she just falls asleep.
Stick with it.

been there, but it stinks,    There are times when one cries b/c s/he does not want to go to bed, and I say to myself, okay, five minutes, and I'll go back up. More often then not, they fall asleep b/f the five minutes are up. I echo Mary Theresa-- its much easier for my family when the kids all follow routine, and go to bed on time. You need the downtime, too.    I'll say a prayer for you !
