Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Elizabeth,
What kind of oil? Would I put it on the crayon parts?

To add to the joy of this event, My dd just ripped apart the styrofoam under the cover! Now, I am just going to have to get a new one--for a mini ironing board no less! ARGh!!!

Is the crayon merely on the sole plate? Have you tried putting the iron on the highest temperature and taking an old terry cloth towel and just rubbing into the towel the melted wax until it comes clean?

And then use the iron plate cleaner you can find at the sewing store to finish the job. It works on a similiar principle...old cloth, hot iron, clean off gunk.

This should work on getting it all off.

The only way I know to remove things that are waxy/burnt on from an iron is to sprinkle table salt on the ironing board cover and iron over it with the hot iron. If you do not want to risk getting crayon on the cover, I would sprinkle the salt on an old sheet/smooth rag and iron over it instead of the cover. I do not have a teflon iron but a steel one so I am not sure if you can use it on teflon.

As far as removing it from the cover itself, if it is washable you can use

1 cup cold water Tide (not regular Tide)
1 cup Spray and Wash

Wash in hot, rinse in cold. Do this twice and it should take out the majority of the crayon after the second wash.

Best of luck!
