Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

You know those pictures that the kids have taken at school every year... does anyone do something similar at home? Looking for some fun ideas here.... Thanks!

Yes - I put them in front of a white (ok sort of white) wall in a polo shirt and take a head shot with my digital camera. I load them on kodakgallery.com and then order prints from any range of sizes - wallets, 5 x 7's etc.

We do photo shoots every now and again and make it a really fun time, vamping it up for the camera, primping and arranging things just so and taking a million digital photos. We just did this for our SCUBA ID's last week but the best example I have on the blog is probably last year's Christmas Photos. We went down to our local beach and brought red sashes and ocean colored sashes and we waited for waves (or what passes for waves here) to crash in the background and tried out Black & White and Sepia tones.

We've also taken some with tropical foliage as the background and Marianna sat on a little stool and I arranged her feet and hands just like the professionals do and they turned out looking good. The Grandma's especially appreciated the posed look for framing and all.

Fun Memories!

We get pictures taken twice a year at this studio: http://www.portraitinnovations.com/index.html

We take family Christmas pictures in Nov/Dec and then individual birthday pictures in early June (all of my children celebrate their birthdays between May 24 and June 21st!) The birthday pictures count as school photos for us.

I don't know if this will help, but....Why do you want school-style pictures? Just asking because once I asked myself that question, I realized that I didn't really want or need that kind of picture. My FIL does take individual shots of the kids when he does our family portraits (but they are outside so a bit different than the traditional school format), but I don't have them printed. We take lots of candids which suit my purposes. Just a thought....

For old fashioned fun... we lined the boys up by profile in the hallway, took a digital picture, printed the picture on regular paper, (if you have the option to change the photo into a drawing it makes this step easier), cut out their profile and traced it onto black cardstocck.

Then we had one of those old fashioned black profile thingies (whatever they are really called!!)
