Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Our swing set of many years has seen its day. My husband took it down and now we are in the market for another one. We have always had the metal kind, but now would like to purchase a wooden one. There are so many to choose from. Does anyone have one they would particularly recommend? We are looking for something with lots of climbing, swings, etc.

Our swingset at our last house we bought from Home Depot. My dh modified it quite a bit while building it to make it safer for toddlers. We were pretty happy with it.

We don't have one yet at this house. Dh wants one he doesn't have to do all the cutting and everything on, so I am not sure what we will get. But, my mom bought one last summer from Creative Playthings and was very unhappy with the quality. It took her(she is very handy), my brother who builds houses and my son days to get it together. THey had to drill new holes because many didn't line up. So, it was pretty frustrating. And it wasn't cheap!

We bought our wooden one from a local Mormon dealer, so I can't recommend a brand- you might not be able to find it in your area.

BUT, here is a little advice:

Get the tallest one you can. That way, the kids can swing on it (and dh, too!) for years to come and won't outgrow it! Get 3 swings or maybe 4, if there is room. (My kidlets like to play "swinging blades of death" and see if they can run the gauntlet while all 4 swings are in motion, without getting hit!)

have a fort attached. get at least 1 slide. add a climbing wall. a rope ladder up to the fort is also fun!

It was expensive, but it was worth every penny. We've had it for 5 years now, and even the oldest (dd-15 years old) will still go out and swing occasionally. It still is high enough to allow her to do that. Yet I fully expect baby #9 will be able to swing in the baby swing next spring.

Happy shopping! It's a good investment for the family!

Peace,
Macmom

We bought a used CedarWorks set. LOVED it. We moved, though, and had to leave it behind. We just bought a Rainbow set (I think a Monster castle). We bought ours off Craigs list. If you're relatively patient (and then quick on the response) you can find decent used sets there for a fraction of the "new" cost.
