Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I posted last week about my basement flood. I was doing okay keeping a positive attitude about it until I started going through the ruined books to list what I need, want, and can do without. The list starts with so many great books I learned about here: Real learning, Catholic mosiac, the coloring compainon to Catholic Mosiac, Sewing with St Anne, etc. I am now so bummed out.

So what books are you REALLY attatched to?

LeeAnn--All I can say is, I know your pain...our Rubbermaid tub full of books was stored at my in-laws while we were away in mission. We moved back and took one load to our new house and left a load for the following weekend---only Katrina left behind five feet of water and no books...I am still replacing beloved favorites and mouring things that will never be replaced. Like my first copy of Real Learning with notes all over it from before my oldest was even school aged, and the entire set of Little House books in hard cover from a used book store in New Orleans. My heart still aches sometimes...books really are companions for me and it hurt to lose these faithful friends. So, take your time, replace them as the Spirit prompts you. And let yourself be sad. Ironically, I haven't replaced things I thought I would replace right away and have replaced some things I didn't think so important. Let the needs of the present guide you, but go ahead and mourn the loss of the past...then eat chocolate, it's the only remedy I know
