It's so scary. This world is killing off the "undesirables" with no qualms.
Here's the article.
It just makes me cry. I don't know what to do but pray.

That is just .... I really don't know what to say to that. Asking for Our Lady's prayers to protect innocent life.

It really is all part of that slippery slope, isn't it?
Peace,

that is so sad. It didn't say how this mom knew her baby had Down's. As many of you probably know, the early test for Down's is the same test for spina bifida--which my son has. We refused that early test and found out later via ultrasound--not that we would ever consider abortion, anyway!
It's amazing how many people have asked, "Didn't you know?" As if I was supposed to do something about it! It makes me sick. Anyway, our son is a parapalegic but really smart and funny and social, and I think our family is a good witness in a really liberal-everyone-must-have-a-perfect-baby neighborhood.
God Bless,
Susan

I think is is so sad that someone can grow up in a society that teaches them to think that having a different/handicapped child is so terrible that it is acceptable to abort.

That is so incredibly sad! I can't believe that she did it the first time, but then, that she went back to make sure her "problem" was taken care of, just adds to the horror! I will never understand what drives a woman to do such a thing. She was so far along too!

One of my homeschooling friends has a beauitful little toddler who happens to have Down Syndrome. She says people say this to her all the time. She just looks them in the eye and says, "Did you want me to kill my baby?" Really puts them on the spot.

I don't like the way the Observatore Romana implied these children are not "beautiful, splendid and positive." I disagree. Lord have mercy on that woman.

Well, I don't want to disagree, Mrs. K., but I thought the quote, "It is the culture of perfection which forces people to exclude anything which does not appear beautiful, splendid and positive," referred to the bad 'culture of perfection' making that judgment based on their false, and really evil, notions of the appearances of beauty, etc. IOW, that too many people will abort a special gift like a Downs baby because they idolize an unattainable, and really unChristian, notion of perfection; having a child with Downs or any other "imperfection" shatters that illusion and forces them to confront the fact that in that false and shallow sense none of us are 'splendid, beautiful, or positive' in the way the idolaters of perfection would like to believe.
It's why so many people will do anything to avoid aging, and say openly that they'd rather choose euthanasia than the indignities and ill health that often come with age, etc. It all comes from this false notion of "perfection" which fails to see the glory in "dappled things" as Gerard Manley Hopkins put it.
Does that make any sense?
Your little one is definitely splendid, btw!
