Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Does anyone subscribe to World magazine? Its a Christian magazine. I am wondering if its a good choice and not anti-Catholic. My older dc want to get a newspaper. We used to get the Washington Times...I am curious.

I subscribed to it last year for my oldest ds (he really loves to read the newspaper). He said, "I would not say that it is anti-Catholic, but it is very, very, very protestant." There is a lot of information about protestant missions and news and of course, nothing about the Catholic faith.

I don't have a whole lot of respect for World as a news source. The protestant bias is quite strong and, I think, hurts the integrity of the reporting a great deal.

I don't know what your political leanings are but we really enjoy National Review. It is quite conservative, but they know they are conservative. I am very frustrated by news sources that claim to be "unbiased" when, in fact, they are just "differently biased." National Review does not claim to be above having its own worldview. The writing is fantastic and many of the staff are Catholic. You may want to preview it at a library as some of the topics covered may not be appropriate for younger children. There are very few illustrations, however, and almost none of them are photographs, so you won't have to deal with gory war images, or anything.

Good luck!
