I have been thinking that it would be helpful to discover how my kids learn and also, evaluate myself so that I can see where we are at odds. Does anyone have a recommendation for a good book, website, program that would help? I have seen some websites that charge a fee. How do you know if their evaluation is accurate and worth the money? Would a book be better?

I thought I saw an earlier thread but when I went back to try to find it, I couldn't. I am probably using the search function all wrong.
Thanks for the link!

Here's a great resource for evaluating resources. My personal vote is for Mercy Academy's Learning Style Evaluations. I can't add anything more to the Love2Learn review linked above. All of my children were evaluated and I learned a lot AND I think the test was spot-on.

Elizabeth, did you have your littles do this evaluation as well? Did you have them complete it, or did you do it with them? I have a nearly six year old in mind when I'm asking. Thanks.

I had the same question. I have a 9 and an 8 who could do an online test themselves, but would it affect the outcome if I helped my 6 yr. old?
Also, did anyone find the need to test themselves? If you did, was it helpful or unnecessary?

Here is the thread from a couple of weeks ago.
Not a whole lot more info there, but I thought I would link to it anyway since you were looking for it.

I'm considering testing myself too! I'm interested to hear others' thoughts on that as well.
I just finished reading through (for the first time) Mercy Academy's evaluation of my eleven year old's learning style. The evaluation is spot-on, to use Elizabeth's term, but the description provided provides a perspective I hadn't previously considered. I am really impressed, and I'm really glad I made this investment today.

I sat at the computer and asked the questions and keyed in first responses.

Hi again, Matilda!
On the search engine--I've often found that when my search yields nothing, it's because it's set to search just one forum. Next time, try setting it to all forums and see what happens.
HTH!
Jane
