Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My mom was talking about one of these machines because it supposedly helps food last longer in storage. I had never heard of one. Anyone have any experiences (good or bad) to offer. Do they really work? Are they worth the cost?

Thanks in advance!

My mother-in-law used one for years, Matilda, and loved it! Let me know if you want me to ask her about it.

I'm on my second. I really like it, and wish I used it more. Really helps with freezer burn, too.

I just bought one at a garage sale for $10. I know several people who have them and they all say well worth the money.

I received one as a gift several years ago. I love it! I use it for food, of course, but there are other things, too. I "shrink wrap" books for shipping when I need to really protect them. I use it to ship things to my men in Iraq to keep things fresh and sand free. (I could use ziplocs, but it helps make some things smaller so I can fit more in one box.)

My friends gave me the Kenmore sealer and I've been quite happy with it.

My mom was looking at the Kenmore one but would like to know if anyone can recommend any other brands? Are they all about the same? Are there different features she should consider?

I like the foodsaver brand. I think this is the one I have. One feature I like is that I can vacuum seal things in mason jars--there's a lid attachment. Very handy in the pantry!
