Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Whew! That was a very long annoying part of my week. The rest wasn't any better--actually, the computer part was something good to take my mind off of the REALLY bad parts (it started out bad and has only gotten worse--however, it is on the way up, but prayers for myself, my DH, and our family, would be GREATLY appreciated)...

However, I do have a friend on another message board who is a tech with Microsoft...PRAISE GOD! Geeksquad wanted to charge me $250 for bringing it to the store (no local 'agents') and fixing it. I was able to fix it with this friend's help, in about 20min and no cash outlay. Always nice.

Turns out, Vista (BLECH!) downloaded the usual monthly update this last week...and the update caused some really wonky behavior--and I am far from alone with this issue. The only thing anyone has found to alleviate it (which is really only temporary) is to undo the updates. Uninstalling them. Which isn't difficult, but can be risky...had to do it though. Got it done, and here I am, praise God. Whew. For some reason (I guess cause his desktop didn't have cookies enabled on it) I could come here to read, but couldn't login...ARGH! LOL. His computer had none of the internet access problems, but it didn't have my favorites saved, either. Or my email.

But here I am. We're all healthy and in one piece. Been a really rough week, and I am glad to see the end of it. DH is now "in country"...and can thus use even more prayers. Thank you all for thoughts and prayers for the family and I...

Rachel

Hmmm ... my new laptop has Vista and I'm wondering if that might be causing me trouble, too.

I'm glad things have smoothed out for you Rachel. Keeping your family in my prayers.

Dh made it clear before he left that he detests Vista for a good number of processes and programs. This is the first time I have had a real problem with it.

Now, the problem is that I have to go back and uninstall it after every start up, because the $*&$& computer REINSTALLS IT every single time I shut down and restart. So, I start it up, it reinstalls, I uninstall, and have restart the computer. A nice way to start the day.

But, if anyone else is having problems of this sort, let me know, cause I can tell you how to do it the quickest way.

SIGH
