Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Well, this is sort of surreal considering what has happened lately but I found some great bargain books!!!
Yoo hOo!

Anyways, one dd came to me today apologetically letting me know she had overdue library books and she would, of course, pay the fine - but could I take her. Well, we walked into the library to pay our 75 cent fine - and afterwards noticed that there was a Friends of the Library booksale. Now, being already there - no way are we not going to look . I came home with over 100 books (all but 3 were 25 cents)- for $30. There were vision books, Landmark books, very old lives of Saints, a beautiful old church history text, an absolutely gorgeous book on St Anne as part of a patron saint series. I also got a bunch of living history and science books including a hardback Minn of the Mississippi. Most of the books were being dumped by our parish's school library - but I'm glad we found them. Many, many of them have little stickers in them asking the children to pray one Our Father and one Hail Mary for the donor. I recognize several of the family names (older parishioners who have been in the parish or at least area for ages) so we can have fun doing this ourselves. I'm sad the school didn't see fit to keep them - but it seems that if they were dumping them, God wanted us to have them.

They are currently all over the floor - and when I told dh, he laughed and asked if they came with bookshelves.

The other thing that has been interesting is that lazy me has suddenly found organizing and cleaning to be therapeutic - and I've been going like a whirlwind through the house (except for the books .

I'll have to go to confession now, because I am green with envy (and nauseous, too).

How absolutely wonderful! I keep hoping I'll have a windfall someday like that!

Oh, and I went to a booksale in April and some of my finds are still sitting on the living room floor, waiting to find a home on the shelf. It takes time and brain power to be organized.

Joining in the sinfulness, I'm afraid I'm coveting your deal.

But really - thanks for sharing your great find - WHAT FUN!!

Wow lucky you!!!!

Around here, the parish school's aren't that old. And the FotL sales aren't so good.

I'll have to keep looking though, and make more of an effort...

Rachel
