Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Can anyone suggest a Mother-Daughter retreat for my 14 yo daughter and me?

We have plane tickets to fly just about anywhere in the US, and I thought it would really be special to go on a retreat together in a beautiful part of the country this summer.
We first thought about a trip to some tourist destination, but I think it would really help our relationship and get high school homeschooling off to a good start if we spent time together in a more spiritual way.
I am mostly a lurker, but I have learned so much and just love this group!
I'd love to hear some of your ideas! Thanks so much!

Mary, I'm over here in Australia but we have just had a Mission given to us by one of the Fathers of Mercy, Fr Ben Cameron. CD's were being sold of all his different talk series and one of them was a mother/daughter retreat series, which I believe he does quite a few, you can view here the CD - if you do have trouble tracking down something suitable, this might be suitable second best.

Dear Mary,
You can go to the Mother-Daughter Retreat given by Father Ben himself June 8-10 at the Sister Servants of the Eternal Word retreat house in Hanceville, AL. You could fly into Birmingham and the Sisters are just a short drive from there. I think it's just what you're looking for and you can't get any better than Father Ben and being with the Sisters. We love them both !

Blessings,
Kym

Thanks for the information on Fr. Ben and the retreat! This might be a possibility.

I do see on the tapes, that Fr. Ben gives 5 talks and 3 homilies. That may be quite a bit more than my daughter would enjoy for a trip.

Anyone know of retreats that would have less, or shorter, talks, and more one-on-one time and recreational time?

thanks,
Mary A.

I don't have any suggestions...my dh are younger; but...what a beautiful idea!

I will keep you in my prayers...that you find just the right place for this special time.

I'm not sure if this is something you would like or not. It is truly wonderful, and probably an hour from MSP airport.
