Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm having a hard time finding a heavier-weight long jump rope (for 2 kids turning, one jumping) in stores.

Anyone have any on-line sources?
We used the beaded kind, but maybe there is a better kind now?

Thoughts from moms of jumpin' girls?

Also, I received Anna Banana from someone that has fun jump rope rhymes.
Anyone have any other book recommendations (rhymes and/or types of jumping and games?)

I've had to ban jump ropes around here as they tend to be used for lassoes, twirly-gigs, and other non-jumping uses (not forgetting tieing younger ones into chairs!)

Two of my dds used to be on a precision jumprope team and they always used beaded ropes. I don't know whether that means they are the *best kind*, but they were the ones all of the jumprope teams at various competitions used.

Peace,
Nancy

Suzanne, I've bought a few from Oriental Trading. I'll hunt down a link in a bit, I'm uploading pics and everything is bogged down right now. I know they were really cheap.(We have Anna Banana too, lotsa fun!)

Have you looked at Hearthsong? I have a gift certificate from them that I was planning on using to get a jumprope.

Last year, dh bought a length of rope at Lowes for the girls to use after I couldn't find one in the stores. It is blue and white and looks like it might be meant for boating?

Hearthsong definitely has jumpropes of good quality - we have one!

That being said, my kids right now are totally into double-dutching - amazon sells double-dutch ropes so I imagine that they sell regular ropes, too.

Recently, my dh purchased some repelling rope from Home Depot. It does not have the heaviness that jumpropes need but this is working well for the purpose!

We also have the book Anna Banana - I'll have to get it out - right now we're using the songs I remember from my jump-roping days and we're making up our own!

Have fun!

I bought a new 100 ft. clothesline and only needed 75 ft. or so. The rest is for jump rope(s). The rope is cotton with a nylon core. It was $7.99 for the clothesline at the hardware store (Orchard Supply Hardware).
