Anyone know of a source for boys' and girls' handkerchiefs? And for girls, hopefully not the frilly, lacy kind, but a basic one (floral is fine, or something with a thin edging) that she could actually use for blowing her nose?
Thanks!

Stef, Wal-Mart carries all kinds of colorful bandana's that we use around here. Floral, funky, camo, masculine, feminine! Pretty cheap too. They get used for noses and a buncha other things! :)

I lay in a store of the 100% cotton ones (the polyester blend ones just don't work as well) for our family.
To make some of them "girly," dd and I get the iron-on monogram motifs, and embroider ours with initials, flowers, etc. Other than that, they are "community property."
The Aunt Martha's brand is widely available, but if you can't find them, or would like to see the entire line, here's their site (they do ship directly):

http://www.orientaltrading.com also has tons of designs. you have to buy them in lots of 12 I think.. but then they're pretty cheap each.

I've seen lots on ebay. This group of 20 has a minimum bid of $5 (plus $3 shipping). They look similar to the handkies I use. I don't use ebay, but I might if I could find a group like this with that Buy It Now option. For boys I buy a cheap set of 11 for $6 at the PX. They aren't 100% cotton, though.

I second the Walmart suggestion. They also have plain white ones in the men's dept. You might want to consider a cotton/polyester blend so they don't come out of the wash all wrinkly and raggy. My husband always has one in his pocket and it ALWAYS get asked for by SOMEONE during Mass.

Thanks, everyone! All of these suggestions are helpful! I'll try looking at Wal-Mart, but the Aunt Martha's stuff also looks like a great fun craft for my girls to do. Jodie, great idea about the bandanas. I'll be sure and get some when I next place an order at Oriental Trading!
Yes, Helene, that's exactly why I posted this. DH is/was a boy scout and always has 2 (sometimes 3) hankies in his pockets when we go to Mass, for all of us. It's high time I taught my boys and girls to "be prepared".
Where I grew up there were shelves and shelves of these at the department stores, really cheap too, about $1 at the time. I always tried to have one of each color, some solid, some with dainty floral print, and some with tiny embroidery.
I did find a couple of stores online that sell them for okay prices (not cheap, but not outrageous either like some antique ones that were selling for $15-30 each!)... I'll post links when I get my PC back as they're bookmarked there.
Thank you again!
