Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

It's okay. After the movie my daughters (ages 9, 8, 6, 4--and 1, but she didn't say anything) told me they didn't want to get the dvd of it. They preferred the old cartoon version.

I don't remember anything blatantly offensive; some mildly uncouth cracks by the barn animals. It was hard to forget that Charlotte was Julia Roberts, because she was kind of playing herself rather than Charlotte. Cinematography was very nice--New England gloriously itself.

I hope that helps; and if someone out there love love loved it, please speak up!

We finished the book last night, and I brought out the dvd as a surprise for my boys today. They enjoyed it, and noticed that the crows were not in the book. It was pretty true to the book, however, even using the same dialog in many places. Of course, there were a few differences to make the movie flow (but not many, really) -- but nothing that detracted from the story.

I don't like cartoons, so have never seen that version and can't compare the 2.

We've been doing Charlotte's Web mazes, copy work, coloring pages, word searches and crafts the last couple weeks as well -- plus we visited our county fair this past Sunday -- so it's really been a Charlotte's Web fest around here lately. Watching the dvd was a nice way to wrap it all up for our house.

My girls and I really enjoyed the movie last December; my 5 year old Christina sat through a film for the first time(she has Down syndrome). Now she asks to watch the DVD by saying "pig movie".
I was contacted by Dr. John Seel, educational outreach director of the company who produced the film, and I posted about our recent meeting here
Walden Media was created in 2000 specifically to bring the classics in children's literature to the screen. They produced "The Chronicles of Narnia","I am David", "The Bridge to Terebithia", and "Amazing Grace".
Dr Seel wants to hear from Catholic homeschool bloggers since he is an educator, devout Christian, and former homeschool student as well as a home-schooling father. He knows we appreciate good literature, and we we share the same Christian moral beliefs. If you want to offer him suggestions, you can comment on the above post, or email me.
