Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Does anyone have a good system for handling out-grown clothes? I feel like I'm drowning in clothes that no one fits into right now. Our main storage is in the attic and so I only get up there once every few months. Should I quit saving stuff? Most of their clothes are cheap Target clothes and can be easily replaced.

Melissa -

There was a thread about clothing storage recently... I'll try to find it.

I keep all my clothes because I have four boys in a row, so there's not a lot of clothes that aren't being used quickly.

There's four years between your two sons, so some of those clothes might be "out-of-style" -- not that boys clothes have as much style as girls!!

But an attic is hard to get to and the heat can also ruin elastics, etc. If you don't have a lot of space, I might be inclined to donate unused clothes and maybe save the special occasion outfits.

Found it!

In addition to anyone else's comments, here's some more food for thought: here

I fight internally with myself on this issue often!

I think you said it yourself though:
"Most of their clothes are cheap Target clothes and can be easily replaced."

With several years between your DSs, and your above comment, if I were you I wouldn't keep the clothes between kids - maybe a *few* select things.

Even with our four girls, I've decided to stop saving between the first group of girls and the second group. there is a large size difference between my 2nd and 3rd girls, but #1 and #2 are close and then #3 and #4 are close to each other. Most of our clothes are gotten cheaply enough at yard sales, consignments, gifts ... It seems wasteful to me somehow to just keep clothes sitting for several years when someone else could be using them. I keep going back to the scripture quote about giving your neighbor a tunic if you have two and he has none.   I can't imagine what God would think of the boxes and boxes of clothes sitting unused when others have not enough... particularly when he has blessed us with the money to get more again as long as I'm frugal about the buying.

I do plan on keeping things I can't seem to find easily - i.e. modest dresses for my 9yo.

I've got three dds already, and two ds' due sometime in the next month-two...my girls are 7, almost 5, and almost 3, and some of their things seem to go directly from one dd's drawer to the next, lol. I do have rubbermaid tubs...labeled by size.

Of course, they are all the same "season" child--March, Apri, and May bdays. The boys are due June 17, but they aren't going to be that late...but back when I thought it was one, and figured it was another girl (after all, DH has 9 sisters and only 3 brothers, lol), I thought, well, hey, I'm not going to buy much of anything--WOOHOO!....

God sure showed me!! LOL
