Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

This is not a pleasant topic, but here goes ...! We have the stomach flu at our house. Ds threw up in the middle of the night all over his bedroom carpet. Does anyone have a good method for cleaning up vomit, ways to avoid the "after smell" and stain on the carpet?

We just use hot water and Resolve over and over again...

But we've avoided a lot of clean-up -- my dh adopted his brother's tactics: at the hint of the flu, they line towels from the beds to the bathroom. Of course, if the first attack comes in the middle of the night - you don't get a chance to line out a defense!!

And like babies, the flu always seems to come in the middle of the night ....

A month or so ago my darling littlest (who loves to sleep with Mom and Dad STILL!) threw up all over me and the bed and the carpet -- we blot and clean with water and then use baking soda to deodorize (vaccuuming it up when it all dries).

We've had pretty good results with oxiclean. Once dd . . . um . . . lost a raspberry, strawberry, blueberry, and banana smoothie. I put an oxiclean solution on it and WATCHED IT DISAPPEAR. (It's not always THAT good.)

We also like febreze for odors.

We use Resolve here too. But like Maryan said it is a process that must be repeated. A few weeks ago my 13yo ds got sick in the middle of the night - not just on his carpet but on two history books that he had sitting open on the floor. I also happened to be sick at the same time and cleaning up after a 13yo is a bit different than cleaning up after the 3 yo! Dh was quite a trooper, but there was no saving the books.
