Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

5-6 Moms are getting together tomarrow. We are all suffering lack of enthusiasm, (a bit of burn-out )
feeling distant from each other. We are each other's support and have been for years. We are hoping for tomarrow to be a time of coming together to connect with each other and encourage each other as we are each struggling with our individual "crosses" (making for a challenging year of homeschooling). We are meeting for Mass and then have about 4-5 hours together... looking for suggestions for prayers, saints, scripture, etc. that could be a focus for us.
Counting on that wisdom, women!! (We are all over 40 , live in a rural area, and up to an hour apart from each other.)
God Bless,
and Thanks,
Sue

My adult daughter and I were just discussing this recently....one of the BEST things we've done to overcome discouragement, burnout, etc. is to make a list of blessings and accomplishments, every day! Keep updating it and keep posting the positives in your life! While you're at it, make a conscious effort to thank God continually for those blessings and accomplishments! If you're going through struggles, thank God anyway, for there ARE blessings even in the difficulties and challenges of life!

Lest it sound as though I must be sailing through life, making it easy to hand out advice on such things, it couldn't be farther from the truth....I just NEED such things even more, just to keep going and survive! Take one day at a time, one baby step at a time....keep going forward and trust in the Lord with ALL your heart!

It helps to do tangible positive things such as staying in touch with like-minded friends, taking a warm bath or a short nap, drinking a spot of tea or hot chocolate when you're feeling the doldrums, baking bread or making a pot of soup! One of my very favorite wintry day brighteners...we keep one string of icicle lights hanging inside our dining area windows, behind our lace valances...whenever I feel low or down we plug them in and light a few candles...it automatically lifts my spirits!

Thank You for responding Servant... and thanks for the reminder that we need to thank God continually for all things. Making a list everyday... sounds like a wonderful idea. Keeps us in your prayers tomarrow.

I think it's a great idea.
I just read this OPus Dei message
My daughter, God is counting on your help and thought it was very interesting. I would have liked to discuss it with some of my friends.

I'm just trying to think of anything else...

A couple of years ago some CM friends came from various distances -- I live in a rural area too! and we were originally going to have a theme, but the friend who was going to bring the materials couldn't come.

Anyway, we found a lot to talk about nevertheless!

Hope you get more ideas.

Sue, I hope your gathering with friends was truly blessed and kissed with much grace, peace and joy!

Willa, the piece from Jose Escriva was beautiful and inspiring...I needed those words right now...thank you for sharing that!

I'm off to light some candles, bake bread, and put on a large pot of soup! Hope you're having a lovely weekend ladies!

We did find alot to talk about... and we did use the piece from Jose Escriva which was perfect! Mass was said by a wonderful retired priest who typical gives outstanding homilies and this was no exception.. he focused on listening to God ! (You'd think he knew we were coming.) Father and his words were a gift to start the day, as was the Holy Eucharist!
We stayed at the retreat house, enjoyed our long, relaxing breakfast over many cups of tea and coffee. The conversation drifted and flowed and I'm sure we covered just what God intended us to and we were blessed by being together.
The day was just what we needed and I thank you for the ideas and prayers!
