Anyone here had any of their babies in their late 40's? We're just coming out of the fog of finding out that we're expecting again-#8. The youngest will be 5 when the new addition arrives.

My dear irl friend had her second baby at 47. We were discussing this the other day, she says she is a far more patient parent with her second than her first who she had in her late 30s.

I believe Marilyn Shannon, author of Fertility, Cycles and Nutrition, had her last at 47 or 48. She was still nursing at 50.

Congratulations!

Congratulations, Maureen! I know several moms who have had babies at age 45-47.      I would be thrilled if I could be one of them. Prayers for you!

Hi. I am new here. This forum and post caught my eye! Though I am likely at the end of such a wonderful childbearing season, I would gladly receive another child if God chooses! In my 40's I have had 2 children as well as 3 in heaven. I am now 48 with 13 children from 27 down to 3. Praise God.
Gleaning much from reading your lovely posts. Thanks.

Thank you everyone for your prayers!

UPDATE: I had an ultrasound on Friday to check baby's position. Unfortunately, baby is still breech. He/she just doesn't seem to want to move.

The midwife gave me some moxibustion sticks to burn near my feet to try to get baby to move. Sounds strange, huh? I think it's some ancient Chinese method. At this point, I'll try almost anything.

There will be other things I will be trying as well: music, exercises, etc.

I'd appreciate any prayers you send my way! I will pray for you too!! Have a blessed day!!

Maureen, have you considered a chiropractor for help in turning the baby? there's something they do that can help.

Jodie,

My midwife did mention that a chiropracter may be the next step. I need to look into that this week.

Thanks

I rarely get to browse this forum and always glean so much when I do.... this post caught my attention as I'm due in June with #7 and I'm 44. I don't personally know anyone that has had a baby this age so I was thrilled to see this!

I'm halfway along and other than everything making me gag I'm very healthy!!     My youngest will be 4 1/2 when his sister arrives!

So, Maureen, how did it go?

Thank you for posting this, and congratulations on your little one!

DH and I are still open to another child even though I'll be 40 next month. Seeing these moms who are older than me having children is an inspiration to me.

Congratulations Katherine!!! I had my seventh at 44 as well! Didn't think we'd have an eighth, but God likes to surprise us. I told dh that it was because he was telling a friend who had just had her sixth that we "finally don't have any in diapers. Yep, we're done with that."    I imagine God with a big smile and a wink when he heard that.

In any event #8 decided to be a little stubborn and wouldn't turn, so I ended up with my first c-section.    But, praise God, he is healthy. As he will most probably be my last, I have been trying to drink in all those sweet baby moments. The whole family has been so delighted with him.

Hope all goes well with your pregnancy and enjoy your great treasure!!

I am pregnant at 46, and I think it has really put me in an introspective mood- being pregnant and having a 12 year old boy. I am so aware of being launched into the teen years and also having a newborn coming, a very busy toddler, one starting Kindergarten this year, and an 8 year old who just can't seem to take off with independent reading. There is just a lot to think about, and I seem to be a little stuck. I have no official plan for getting this homeschool year started. Thanks for listening. I know with prayer and patience it will all come together.

I had Therese at age 46 and she is nursing a little. I keep thinking that there is one more little guy waiting to join us. But maybe not. I get excited at the thought and then I get overwhelmed with life with 9 children and an aging MIL. So, I figure if I feel overwhelmed, I might as well feel overwhelmed with a sweet, loveable baby at my side :)
Blessings,
Stephanie

I'm 45 and 38 weeks pregnant with my 9th. This has been my healthiest pregnancy, but boy I am tired now. It is hard having ages 20-3, and all the different stages. I really rely on the Blessed Mother for help!!

I have to say, it can be overwhelming, and it can take a while to wrap one's mind around having a baby and a college student at the same time. I found myself naturally wanting to move out of the baby stage and into the stage of having young adult children. Instead, I was in both stages-it felt really weird especially when no one else around me was going through it. I guess I even felt a little lonely in a way.

But, yes, time helps and especially the joy which comes from the new baby. And the added joy of seeing the other children's love for the new little one.

Life can be hard in a large family - so many things to do, so many things left undone. I thinks it's God's way of teaching us to let go of the less important things and trust Him. I have to remind myself often that all will pass away, except these little lives.

Prayers for you and be of good cheer. He has overcome the world! (Thank goodness )
