Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

The last couple of months I have been having problems dealing with my own moods. It is kind of like depression, but not in a clinical sense. I just turned 48 and was wondering if this is something hormonal.???
In addition, we are trying to clarify some health issues with the 2 youngest which hit hard at first, but am dealing much better on that issue.
Loneliness is certainly playing a role, but it is not something new.
I suppose turning 48 in January was a turning point for me, finally accepting the fact that there will be no more babies. Pretty slow, huh? But, I honestly am accepting of that fact right now and do not dwell on it.

When I catch myself in my "hole" I pray: "Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the living God, have mercy on me, a sinner"
Do you know how many times a day I pray that prayer?

Any ideas?

I have been feeling the same way and I'm close to you in age. For me it's no more babies... my oldest will be leaving for college in the fall... all the things I dreamed of doing as a family that we never got to...

Yes, I am sure part of it is the weather, we need to get out and walk don't we? Too bad we can't walk together.

But I certainly don't want to waste these precious years so I am praying and working very hard not to give into any sad feelings. Your little prayer is a good one to remember.

Keep our eyes on the goal. Onward and forward warrior moms!

Stephanie,

Consider too that it may be related to your daughter's diabetes diagnosis. Everyone warned me that I would go through the stages of grief and I'm not sure I really believed that but I certainly did go through it. I not prone to being down generally but I still struggle with it. It's hard and the realities of this disease and its effect on my children can sometimes make me very sad.

I'm praying for you!

Michele, thank you for the prayers! You have been a great support regarding Helena's diabetes! It could be grieving...I just can't place my feelings.
I am usually a very positive, smiling person. This makes my present condition so odd for me.

I just want out of the doldrums!

Dear Stephanie,
I have been struggling with feelings of sadness about the changing pattern for me now that I am 45!
I am definitely sad that no more babies have come (four miscarriages since I had my 4 year old). I think praying the Jesus Prayer is perfect...keep on with it!
I have also found that the St. Michael prayer is powerful as is the Chaplet of Divine Mercy for centering me and helping me guard against discouragement, sadness and fear.
Much love to you--

Stephanie...I'm right there with you. I hope to come back to this topic this weekend to share more, but for now know that I'm praying for you and ask that you pray for me. I'm finding "this season" of life to be difficult in its own way...

Love,

Hey, Stephanie, it's Stephanie

I am 47 and my oldest graduated from college last year and my youngest turns 1 in a few days.
I should be SO joyful with all my 9 blessings.
But I am in this fog of....well, I am not sure what.

I told the 16 year old this afternoon that I needed an hour to detox in the car and went to the grocery store after I put the baby down for a nap.
Now, I have a fever and breast infection. I can't seem to even take a break without getting mastitis. For me, this is as predicable as the sunset.

I have to take a deep, deep breath and remember WHY I am doing this....I mean why I have children and the pivotal responsibility of raising them in the Faith.
Also, why I am homeschooling....and not giving up the race before the finish line.

This fog is spiritual to some extent, I am sure. But I hope it is temporary. I can't imagine trying to homeschool like this from now on

Blessings,
Stephanie

I think Michele really has good advice with that ! A drastic change in health is a big adjustment not just for the child but the whole family & of course you know who.... Mom !
Also I do not know where you live but could it be seasonal as well ? Feb. and March are often most difficult here where we live .my sil suffers from that seasonal disorder .I do not but am still unmotivated often this time of yr. then staying indoors makes me more agitated especially by those around me .
Then if it is hormonal there are two things I would try wild yam and / or motherwort .
wild yam saved me when having late cycles and became very moody like never ending PMS .That wild yam took it all away .
Now I get these hot flashes not so much moody any longer but wild yam did nothing for the flashes . I read about motherwort and it is a miracle herb me .
could be just having a nice calm teatime with a gal pal is all you need
