I'm about ten weeks now.
I wanted to share with you this miracle. I was convinced in my 30's that I could never have biological children. We adopted six children. Now, in my forties, I've had two pregnancies! (If this baby goes to term, the majority of the pregnancy, I will be 44.)
We can rejoice today that the Lord has given me this gift of life! I have a doctor appointment next Monday and I could use the prayer support. I'm concerned that we won't hear the baby's heartbeat. My last two pregnancies were absolutely horrid with sickness. I was pretty sure every time I went to the doctor that I would hear a heartbeat -- no one could be that sick and not have plenty of pregnancy hormones! This time the symptoms are so much milder. I can actually function. But then, I approach the doctor appt with a little more apprehension.
In the meantime, let's give thanks to the Lord!!
wrote:
It is good to give thanks to the LORD, to sing praise to your name, Most High,To proclaim your love in the morning, your faithfulness in the night,...
Planted in the house of the LORD, they shall flourish in the courts of our God.They shall bear fruit even in old age, always vigorous and sturdy
As they proclaim:
"The LORD is just; our rock, in whom there is no wrong." |

Psalm 92
-----update 4/23-----
I had my 14 week appt yesterday. I went in unconcerned because last week I had a terrible time with kitchen duty and food. I was pretty sure I felt the baby jumping around last week. I'm wearing maternity clothes because my waist has definitely expanded. I've had no pain or spotting.
At my appt. the midwife couldn't find the baby's heartbeat. She gave a brief try on the sonogram but preferred to send me to the hospital for an indepth look. At the hospital, neither the technician nor the attending doctor could detect the baby's heartbeat. Today, I have another appt to disuss my options. I have been taken by surprise by this turn of events. By 13 weeks everyone breathes a sigh of relief -- especially with continuing sickness. Here I am well into my fourteenth week.
I ask for prayers. A few decisions need to be made. After years of adoption questions and struggles, even though miscarriage is tough news to take, there is no shadow of a doubt concerning where I will find the Will of God. To me this is a great consoloation. I know where to fix my heart and there is no point in arguing about it. May the Lord and His Holy Wlll be praised!
Deep down I knew I had to experience a miscarriage somewhere in my life. (I didn't think it was going to be this week!) Miscarriage doesn't make sense unless we think about the openness to life and all that it entails and the penance needed to make up for sins against life. Another great consolation is to be able to say to the Lord "I love You!!" even when He chooses something painful for me to endure. At least today, I say these words with no strings attached.
My two favorite verses right now are...God's Will is good, pleasing and perfect. (St. Paul to the Romans) and Job's line ... The Lord gives and the Lord takes away, BLESSED be the Name of the Lord.

Congratulations and I'm praying for you! This anecdote may not be worth much, but I have found my fourth pregnancy much easier than the first three in the nausea department. We didn't hear the HB at my first prenatal at 10 1/2 weeks which I knew didn't mean much in itself but added to my concerns, but an ultrasound two days later showed a great heartbeat and a very active baby. (Disclaimer: I'm 31 and also don't "belong" in this forum )

Thank you Theresa -- it is helpful. I'll remember to wait to make any decisions until an ultrasound can be made.
Thank you Ladies!! It is wonderful news and I'm happy to share it with you.
