Oh my poor, old, tired eyes! Yesterday, I pulled my reading glasses out to the drawer I stashed them in a few years back. I do find them to be a help.
I am wondering though if any of you wear reading glasses and if you do how do you keep them handy? Rachel told me about a pin I could wear to clip them onto. My other option is to just admit I have poor tired eyes and wear them around my neck?
Anyone else in the same boat?

OH YEAH!!!!!
You should have heard me the other day ... dh and I driving out to the mountains ... swapping sunglasses for reading glasses to read the map and trying to knit all at the same time ... thank God dh loves me!
When I turned 47 in September, all of a sudden I needed reading glasses all the time ... even to read the computer screen ... I'm still not used to having to wear them and end up at Mass without them and can't sing (which 17yod says is a GOOD thing!  ) or can't read Magnificat!
I think I'm just going to make little holders for round my neck ... if I knit a sweater, I'll make a matching one and look tres chic, no? 
Funny thing ... when I take my contacts out, I can read perfectly without glasses ... but I can't see 5 ft in front of me

I thought I remembered a thread about this a couple of years back, but I can't seem to find it.
Anyway, I am with you, Mary Chris! I need something better now than just leaving them as placeholders in the book I am currently reading.
I think I remember that some people would buy a few and then leave them in various typical reading places, and others used the around-the-neck holder. I don't remember what else.... but I need to find a solution, too.

I used to have just one pair. But now both dh and I need reading glasses, so he bought several pairs at Walmart (and then the pound shop). We keep them in the house where we use them the most ... the living room and by the bed. I also have a pair in the school room and in the kitchen/dining room. I need them to read recipes and chop veggies! I believe that my vision has gotten worse over the years (and I have been wearing them since I was 35).

I too started out slowly. Now, I just buy the three pack at Costco and have a pair by the computer, bedside, purse, etc. My 2 year old grabs them around my neck, so that doesn't work.
You had to see me trying to read my recent HPT! I did the test and started the timer and then couldn't find a single pair. Panic mode. My DH joked that if you are too old to read it without reading glasses, then you are too old to be pregnant.

Here are some of the pins I was telling MC about.
Mary, I don't know how mathy you are  , but I always found this interesting: If I am nearsighted and have a prescription of -1.50, then when I take my glasses off, I am getting +1.50 back. If you check out reading glasses at Walmart, you will find they are all + measurements. Neat, huh? Further adjustments happen when you move the paper further from or closer to your face.
This site has a good selection of pins (some magnetic) with a picture showing how they are worn. I googled "eyeglass holder pin" to find them.

Ooh, I like those pins. I have pairs of reading glasses everywhere! If I'm not going to be reading or working at the computer for extended times, I wear a pair of bifocals. My optometrist made them up for me and they are plain on top with my reading prescription on the bottom. Very handy, especially for church, when you're looking down at your missal then looking up to the altar. Also, I have a pair of bifocal sunglasses that I ordered from PeeperSpecs--totally worth the money, imo!

Thanks for that link! I hate having to wear reading glasses at the pool and keep track of sunglasses, etc.

I am on my third pair of glasses because I kept sitting on them. I finally bought one of those cords to hang them around my neck, like an old lady. But, it works great. I only use this on the pair I have at home. But, I have been know to go out with the glasses hanging around my neck I also keep a pair in my purse. It is pretty frustrating to go to a restaurant and not being able to read the many or to the drugstore and not being able to read the back of the medicine bottles...

This has been happening to me, too. On Monday I started wearing only one contact. It's not perfect, but it works.
