Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I bought the book "Call her blessed" at a used book sale AGES ago. I mean literally years. I apparently never opened the book. Over the weekend I finally glanced in it. What a surprise! It is all different views of Mary. For example, Our Lady of the Workshop, Our Lady of Guadalupe, Our Lady of Quito.... etc.... So this in itself was really incredible. But even more than that, the person that owned the book before me started to collect pictures of each of these! They had collected our Lady of LaLeche, the Madonna of love, Our Lady of the snow. What a treasure I have and didn't even know it!

I have lots of books I haven't opened yet! The "good-intention-to-read" books I call them! But many times I find myself in exactly your situation - opening the book and astounded at how meaningful it is to me at that time! And it's happened to me on re-reads, too - I find new meaning, new parts of the book that take on different levels of importance at different times of my life.

It seems Our Lady put this book in your life and wanted to save it for you for this time! She never ceases to amaze me at her thoughtfulness and kindness toward her children! What a wonderful gift she set aside for you, Jill! Think of it like you might if you found a wonderful gift for one of your children, but they weren't quite old enough or mature enough to appreciate it yet. So you set it aside for them and bring it out when the time is right. Our Lady has done the same thing here!

Anyway, the book sounds lovely and I'm so glad you shared this little treasure with us!

You brought tears to my eyes when you explained it like that! You wouldn't believe what this endured to stay with me. I put it in a box with some other books and was going to give it away. I had my husband take it to goodwill or where ever. He put it in the back of his broken down truck that sits in our yard. Literally for about 3 years the book sat there. Recently I went into the back of the truck for something and found a couple books and pulled them out. This one was among them. Truly out of sight. Yet still I had not taken the time to open it until now. I cannot wait to read it! I have to finish another one first but it is right next to me, now waiting to be looked at. I am so excited!
