Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Does anyone have a review or opinion of this book:
http://www.amazon.com/Days-Morning-Glory-Michael-Gaitley/dp/ 1596142448
I could not get the search engine to find an past posts on it--I am thinking of using it for my renewal.

I have this book, but I haven't read it yet. I just did a consecration to Mary. I am planning on using this every year when I renew my consecration. Here is a brief overview:

There are 4 weeks of daily readings (week 1 is St. Louis de Montfort, week 2 is St. Maximillian Kolbe, week 3 is Blessed Mother Teresa, and week 4 is Blessed John Paul II). Then there are a final 5 days of readings. There is an appendix with additional prayers and information on devotions. I wish I would have had this when I made my original consecration. It looks nice.

It also has a list of feast days when you can do your consecration and a list of starting days if you want to do a certain day.

I was going to share about this book in the "Book Club," but I did a quick search beforehand, and I found this thread. So, I am simply replying here.

I just made my Consecration to Mary on Sunday—Mother's Day and the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima. I used the beautiful book 33 Days to Morning Glory. I wrote a review over at Goodreads, but I am not sure if you can read it unless you have an account ...

So, I am pasting my thoughts on this book into this reply ...

This book is a beautiful approach to Consecration to Jesus through Mary. It is a self-guided retreat, in a sense, where you truly "ponder in your heart" Mary's role in Salvation History and her role NOW in bringing us closer to Her Son, Jesus. It takes St. Louis de Montford's method and expands upon it with the devotions of other Marian saints: St. Maximillian Kolbe, Blessed Mother Teresa and Blessed Pope John Paul II.

Throughout the reading of this book, I felt like I not only grew in my understanding of Our Blessed Mother but also in my own relationship with her. I also came to know some incredible saints, and although they are well-known, I definitely got to know them better through these readings.

If you have considered Marian consecration, this is a gentle book that is totally doable in the midst of a busy schedule. You will be so excited to read the next day's readings, and you will relish in your quiet time of thought-provoking ponderings! If you already are consecrated to Mary, this might be a nice supplement to deepen your devotion (or renew your consecration).

Ok...I am SO BIASED in this one.

Fr. Michael Gaitley is my son's godfather, and a close, personal friend.

He gifted us with a copy for Christmas, and I have yet to really delve into it.

However, what I have read is amazing and insightful.

He really does synthesize Louis De Montfort with Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta, Bl. Pope John Paul II, St. Therese and St. Faustina. It is incredible that he has put all of these individuals together and synthesized their teachings to create a truly remarkable approach to Marian Consecration.

I know Elizabeth Foss has been reading this and RAVING about it.

I have only ever heard people say great things about this book.

But like I said, I am totally biased.

Go for it!!

Just bumping this to say I had done my consecration/renewal multiple times and then this past Easter used this book and have found new insights into our Blessed lady. I continue to read through it as there is so much to chew on I feel it is tough to get the first time through. Definitely would recommend it for newbies and veterans to Marian Consecration.

Incidentally, my son's godmother sent this book to me out of the blue, along with Fr. Gaitley's first one: Consoling the Heart of Jesus. My priest told me it's very, very good and to read that one first before getting into the 33 Days. I'm halfway through it and it is indeed a very good book.

I'm sure it's not a NECESSARY order of reading... but he simply recommended it to me.

I completely agree! Even though the readings aren't lengthy, there is so much to ponder! Mary is SO amazing, and she has such a special role in helping us gain holiness and Heaven!

We are going to be doing this as a parish retreat beginning this Wednesday and making/renewing our consecration on the Feast of the Assumption! I am looking forward to reading and praying through "33 Days to Morning Glory" again! And I am especially excited to watch the DVDs, which are presented by the author!
