Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I had started this thread quite a while back, Can we talk about books for children?

Brenda had initially mentioned a book called The Secret of Mary Explained to Children

I am now fortunate to have acquired a copy. From browsing through it, I would have to say that it is simply wonderful book for children and the next step up from Leading Little Ones to Mary.

I would dearly love some solid feedback from anyone who has used this book with their children.

I want to start using this book, there is about 15 chapters...I also want to share a sample of the book for ladies to see, if you click over to my blog you will see one chapter loaded up, you can click on the pages and print them up to read. Please share your thoughts on that chapter here if you can, I would love that!

I am thinking about the consecration as a whole family. And so this post is the beginning of that, I would want my children to have a solid understanding and I feel this book is it.

That is the book my Daughter's Legion of Mary group used and we both really liked it.

Coming back here to say that I am using this little booklet for my two older girls--ages 8 and 9.5 right now. We all really like it and I think it's such a great introduction into "the spiritual life" in general, as well as obviously learning and talking about the Blessed Mother and our devotion to her.

Every week, the girls make themselves a cup of tea and we sit down for 15-30 minutes to read through and discuss one chapter per week. We take turns reading paragraphs, then discuss.   We're on chapter 7 now....there are 15 chapters. The girls really enjoy it and don't let me slink out of a week

**It's very do-able and not overwhelming to me.
**It's a very bare-bones book....no cute activities or lots of pictures, so in a way, it's all about the content...which lends itself to good conversation and thoughts.

Coming back AGAIN to say that we finished this back in May or June. And, as I was going through my daughter's booklist with her this past week, she asked for something similar....a faith-spiritual-life-book for the two older girls and me....to read during a 15 minute tea time. So, I'm off to peruse my shelves tonight!

But, just wanting to give this little book another thumbs up, now that we finished it.
