Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I recently discovered Jennifer Scott at The Daily Connoisseur,
who has written several books about dressing well- like a lady- and living graciously.

Basically, as an exchange student in Paris she learned a lot from the French family she lived with about dressing really well with less.

She has a great series on Youtube about the 10 item wardrobe, plus she features other topics. I am enjoying watching them and can really see myself watching them with dd to help learn about dressing well and elegantly. (and, yes, she does have kids and talks about what she wears to the play ground, etc).

There is a videos link on her blog.

This whole video series has really gotten me thinking.
I really like how the author routinely evaluates her clothing for signs of wear- she walks you through the process.

I know that t-shirts shrink, but somehow it was just a relief to hear someone talking about it and saying it's OK *not to keep* those t-shirts. Really. You don't have to keep trying to make them work or wearing them because they still have a lot of life left, even if they are noticeably shorter than when you bought them.

I have also enjoyed hearing about her struggle to find lady-like clothing, why she is uncomfortable with skirts above the knee and how she mixes high end with low end clothing. Because let's be real- I am not going to be paying $200 for a pair of shoes in the near future.

Anyway, dd and I are enjoying watching these... fun summer fare.
