Anyone pick up any good after holiday sales deals in the past week?
I have to admit that I haven't been out much to look- it's been mainly grocery store runs here .
However, yesterday I did go to JoAnns, where the Christmas fabric is 70% off.
On top of that I could use my teacher's card for an extra 15% off .
And, oh my- there was some lovely fabric! I stocked up, paying only $1.50 to $2.50 a yard.
Why? My plan this year is to make those Christmas gift bags that are so handy. You know- grab a bag, pop a gift in, close with a drawstring. No more marathon wrapping sessions. Every year I want to do this and then forget or can't find a good deal on Christmas fabric. This year I scored!
I'm very excited- I hate paying for wrapping paper that gets torn off and thrown away. I also find some items are very hard to wrap, or I don't have the right box, etc. I'm thinking the gift bags will eliminate a lot of this, and I was inspired by reading here how many of you already do this.
Anyway, the sale price is good through Jan 11, and my store still had a very abundant selection.

half-price wrapping paper is really all that I got.
Oh, and my 12YO DS noticed that the Reeses' chocolate/PB trees were marked down to 7c each. He was happy.

I usually buy wrapping paper, but got so much last year that I am still set and didn't get more. I did pick up a bottle brush tree half off. I want more - next year my dd and I want to bleach them and make some of those cute scenes for decoration:

This isn't really holiday related but January is when the Container Store has their annual Elfa sale. Shelving and installation is 30% off. I love Elfa. I've got it in all of our closets. It's pricy but I like it better than the other shelving systems because it's so easy to adjust because the shelves/drawers hang on the rail.

That's fantastic - thanks! I did two of our closets with Elfa shelving systems this past summer. It's amazing!

Hmmm not doing much shopping here. But RiteAid (drugstore) sells those gift boxes with sets of nail polish or perfume or makeup.. already a good deal, well they're put on 50% off after Christmas so I was able to get a nailpolish set I'm going to put away for a spring birthday.
And I got candy canes that I'm going to add to the tree for Epiphany.

I had to buy a few rolls of wrapping paper, too. I had vowed not to buy any until I had used up every bit we had. That took about 3 years .
On Christmas Eve we were down to the end of the last roll, and I could see dh was a bit nervous, as he still had a few gifts to wrap. But we made it.
I picked up a few rolls for 30 and 75 cents, which we'll still use for gifts going out of the house. And some of the paper can be used for birthdays as well. 'Cause I don't think I'll get to Christmas and birthday bags all in the same year
