I'm in the market for new pajamas for after my surgery. I probably won't wear in the hospital, but I'll need some for recovery.
I'm looking for pajamas, cotton, short sleeve, long pants or capri (latter preferred because I'm petite).
I'm looking for a lightweight cotton robe, nothing too warm. Has anyone seen a robe that isn't a zipper or a tie on that perhaps buttons, like double breasted? I've seen old patterns. The tie robes gap so much.
I know it's the wrong season. I found a few pjs at Vermont Country Store and one at LLBean.
But I'm just wondering if you have a favorite place for pjs before I pull the trigger.

I have a few robe patterns posted on Pinterest which show the buttoned options that I'm talking about.
I do think there's nothing out there, but thought I would ask.

Jenn,
I just happened to be looking at PJs this week for St. Nicholas Day coming up...
Here is a capri set, short sleeve. Top is 100% cotton knit, and bottom may
be 50/50 or 100% cotton as well.
Before you think: Walmart?? know that I bought a pair of these in the long sleeve version last winter. I was desperate for new pjs and grabbed a pair for myself on impulse. Turns out I love my pair, which is why I was back looking at the Walmart site this week.
My pair still looks new after a winter's use, and is very comfortable.
Also love the price!
ETA: They do run big, I think. I bought a medium in the long sleeves but probably could have worn a small.

Have you considered a sleep sweater?.
I went this option a few years ago and I really like it, espicially for days that you are lounging in your pj's. It's not too bulky and I don't feel like I will be caught on fire if I cook with it on---like I sometimes do with robes.
Also, what about Hanna Andersson?

Melinda,
That option looks great and good for the $$$$. And I don't have to go to the store -- even better. Thanks for the option. I appreciate the sizing point, too. I am in between a M and L, depending, and if something runs large, I need to go down.
Betsy,
That option of a sleep sweater looks perfect! And the fiber content works for me. I could bring my old robe to the hospital to do the walking up and down halls, but the sweater for lounging and such looks perfect.
Hanna Andersson -- I do love their fabric and durability, but the styles and prints are just not me!

Have you checked Etsy for vintage robes/house coats that might fit the bill? There are real vintage ones there as well as ones folks are making and selling.

Good point. Prices are a little high, but there are options, although I'm not crazy about the patterns:
1940s Robe
1950s floral print -- add a tie belt. Similar one here.
I'm so hesitant to pay someone when I know I could do it myself, just haven't the energy or time. But this chenille option is cute.

It's funny you say that because as I was looking through their selection I though that you would look perfect in the Pink Polka Dot ones--- Just Kidding!

I always ooh and ahh over the pjs in Garnet Hill and Soft Surroundings catalogs. Heart surgery would be the perfect time to splurge.
I have SO wanted this sweater robe for years!

Jenn, whatever you decide, be careful whether interfacing of anything button up is soft enough for brushing against scar tissue. Even after you're past the bandage stage, scar tissue from heart surgery can be tender for quite awhile. Button down pajama tops can brush against tender skin and irritate. If nothing else, you may want to consider extra soft t-shirts or a-shirts that don't pill or have fuzz for wearing underneath next to that tender skin. Dh wore t-shirts for a few months after his heart surgery. My mil was tender after pacemaker surgery for many months and couldn't wear a bra because it rubbed against her scar ~ something else you may want to consider beforehand. I imagine sports bras might be more friendly to scar tissue than other types. Nurses can be really helpful for ideas for post-op tips.

Servant, that is very helpful!
I did start get a soft pullover or step-in that will be soft for the stitches -- that was my first concern.

I've been so slow to pull the trigger on these! I love those that you linked, Lindsay, but with Servant's advice and knowing my bust size, I don't think they will work. So I'm leaning towards the Asian Wrap or Scoop Neck pjs. I want to have one splurge pair. Just can't decide.

I love both those, Jenn. I only linked the ones I did because you'd said short-sleeved, but it would hard to decide!
Do you think you'll have pain or discomfort raising your arms over your head? The scoop neck looks like it might be an easier in and out if that were the case.

Good point. I was leaning towards the Asian, actually. I didn't like having straps showing on the scoop neck.
I think I'll have pain no matter what I do. I think the best is a step-in type of shirt, but I haven't seen anything like that!

I think the Asian is the cuter of the two and the scoop-neck knit the cozier looking. Are you going for cute or cozy?

Both!
I was reading the reviews and the repeated criticism of the Scoop-neck is thinner (but not cheaper) material. Most love the Asian better? So what I'm weighing is the thicker material or not....I tend to prefer the thicker material.
