I had to replace my relatively-new 4 quart crockpot today. My husband found a long crack on the outside of the insert and we both agreed that it looked like a real crack, not crazing.
My first crockpot lasted 25+ years! The second one didn't last for three!
I use my crockpot 4 to 5 times per week most weeks of the year. I know that's way more than most people use this small appliance, but still...
How long have your crockpots lasted? Do some brands last longer than others? (We've found with toaster ovens that price does not indicate quality. Is this true for crockpots?)
Thanks for adding to my knowledge base. I need to know how long this new one will last!

I have a Hamilton Beach "Stay or Go" and I love that thing. Not that I use a crockpot alot.. it's probably one of my least used appliances (it's so much easier for size to use my roaster)so I can't really speak to longevity but when I need one it's been great. And since most of the time that need is to take it somewhere with us.. the locking lid feature is marvelous!

Hmmm. I think mine is going on 8 years old now, and we use it as much as you say.

I've had these as well and like ithem. I can't speak to longevity, though I had one longer than 3 years for sure, because mine were killed rather than meeting a natural death.

We've had ours (a Hamilton Beach) for almost 14 years, but I only use it probably 2x/month.

I have my mom's old one - 4 qt - which is probably 35+ years old.
And, I'm on my 3rd 6qt one, since we've been married (13 years).
Now, the new ones have the removable insert, and the old one does not, so that probably has something to do with it.

My Rival 4 qt. crockpot is 27 years old and still going strong! I hope it lasts another 27. It does have the removable crock, which is great for easy cleaning. Also, it has a nice heavy lid which does not allow splatters.
A few years ago, I bought a 6 qt. oval so that I could easily cook roasts. I hated it! It cooked too hot and had a light weight lid which would lift and spit. I had splatters all over the counter, down the cabinets and on the floor. With the higher heat and the loss of fluids, the roasts were dry and yuck! I sent it to Goodwill.
My son just got married and he and his new bride received a crockpot as a wedding gift. It comes with a strap that is supposed to hold the lid in place -I'm not sure, but I guess it is there to prevent the splatters.
