Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

for these hats

I knit hats for the local NICU, but the preemies cannot have yarn with wool- just cotton or acrylic blends.

I have been using a lot of Bernat acrylic because I think it's one of the softest acrylics available locally, but I really would rather use a cotton blend.

Right now I am working on making a few pumpkin hats for Halloween in the NICU (so cute when all the little ones have on seasonal hats- cheers up the place). My yarn choices in orange this time of year are a bit, ahem, limited.

My local yarn store had nothing in orange that wasn't a wool blend. I don't have Cotton-Ease available locally- is it a nice blend to work with? Worth ordering on line if I could find a nice shade of orange?

I can get Vanna yarn in orange here, but I'm just not a big fan of that yarn.
All cotton doesn't seem stretchy enough for a hat- though I did make quite a few all cotton bunny hats for Easter.

Ideas?

Melinda, have you looked at Knit Picks Comfy cotton? I hear good things about Billow, as well.

If you don't find what you're looking for in orange in cotton/acrylic, Caron Simply Soft is what the ladies use here for donated items. I don't love an acrylic-only yarn either, but this one has been pretty nice.

Do you have a Hobby Lobby? They have a great cotton yarn that's deliciously soft called "I love this cotton".
