Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We are planning our kitchen renovation and I would like some feedback from people who might have a micro/vent hood over their stove.
We went to Lowes and found they have decent CFM, better than we have now. But, I am wondering how greasy they get and how easy they are to clean--there is a light there, and a lot of vent and metal. My current hood is just gross and I do clean it fairly often(and it is my major offering chore). I just see this kind being hard to keep clean. Is it?
Also, while my kids are older I do worry about them spilling hot stuff on them taking it down from the micro. Also, with a gas stovetop under it I worry about things(aprons, etc.) catching fire.
Our other option is to put a tad smaller micro in the island, but that has some disadvantages-being low and hard to see, I"m fairly tall.
Mom input would be appreciated.
Thanks.

We have one with a hood at our new house I don't love it. First of all, it is hard for me to clean because it is too high to get in there easily. Also, I don't think the hood does as good of a job as one on its own. That said, it is nice to have the counter space for other things! I really think you need to look at how you want things set up. They are very expensive to replace!!!
