So, what can I simmer on the stove to give the house a new smell? I thought of cinnamon sticks, but can't seem to think of other things to simmer. I don't do candles because DH seems to be allergic to most of the artificial scents.

Any ideas (besides my actual baking of bread)?

Cloves and orange peels!   

Although, we don't do this until after Thanksgiving. Cloves and orange peels just smell like Advent to me. And oranges are sometimes used as a symbol of Our Lady in art. (Oranges are a symbol of purity, chastity and generosity.)
