two questions:
My husband bought me a well made feather bed about 7 years ago. I don't know much about them, but he said because it had stitching all throught it (to hold the feathers in place) made it a better one. Well, now the stitching has come loose and the feathers clump up. Can this be fixed???
Also, I would like to get feather beds for my children. Any suggestions on where to purchase good ones at a good price?

One place that is great to check out is overstock.com They carry a lot of nice bedding for discounted prices. But they may or may not have what you're looking for. Either way feather beds and comforters are not cheap.
As for repairing the one.. it's likely possible it just depends on how much of the stitching is gone.. you'd need to seperate the feathers into the different sides/compartments and add in the stiching to keep them seperated.
and of course you know to be careful with the ages of children that have them since they fluff up around you.

We really like the Company Store. We have bought most of our comforters there. They also refurbish and clean comforters. See here. In January they have great sales.

Jodie, I think Overstock.com is where he bought this one. I often forget about them! I can't imagine being able to fix this on my own machine. I'm thinking of checking with a seamstress. I'm just not good at sewing...hand or machine

I just wanted to add that if you are able to redistribute the down and possibly hand stitch the cover... if you so dare... wash it in your washer on a fine setting , med spin and then dry it in the dryer on low heat with 3 tennis balls to beat out the clumps. If you don't have special detergent for down then I would use special detergent for wool. I have had great success washing and drying our down products. Just don't do it too often.

Years ago I purchased my down comforter from Sierra Trading Post . I don't know if they still have great deals but I still love my comforter!
