Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

....Little House in the Big Woods!

I am new to sock knitting. I was excited to read this article in Knitting Daily.

My inner Charlotte Mason just bursts out of me when "connections" like this are made and I can combine two passions in my life.

So does any one think they might attempt these socks? Does anyone have any other great knitting patterns taken from great literature?

Oh, Betsy...this is one of my favorite topics. There's a positively delicious Tasha Tudor shawl that I LOVE!!!!! Alas, I don't knit.    And I just love the Little Women capelets which can't be that hard to make...if you knit. I have ALWAYS enjoyed looking over the selection of capelets at etsy! Even though I don't knit, I do sew and I've been working on some inspiring ideas to sew!

Thought you might enjoy these for fun:

Neat list of references made to knitting that are within literature

Piecework: Discover Needlework in Literature (very neat article!)

Jen,
You must learn how to knit, that is the only solution! I have knit the Tasha Tudor Shawl. It was my first BIG project. I just love it, and I think of her every time that I wear it. :)

Okay, I need to stop looking for more patterns! There already isn't enough time to knit them all.......    However, did you see this--Jane Austen Knits!

There is a beautiful shawlet pattern, Georgiana, that I love!

Maybe I can ask for the book for Christmas.....
