I need some advice...how do you get sharpie off of all surfaces...furniture, walls, clothing?
I have a budding young artist that clearly is an over-achiever...

Walls, or other hard surfaces Mr. Clean Eraser and/or Folex.
Fabric removal is more iffy...but this link has a few ideas.

For almost all hard surfaces I use alcohol wipes.

Well, for ink (like a pen) that is on fabric I've had great success with hairspray (non-aerosol) and a white paper towel to blot. I think it may be the alcohol ( a la Jen) that does it.

I fear one dresser drawer is forever labeled "MARY"...but at least it is fainter...sigh!
I love sharpies. I hold them close but my 2.5yo has a habit of pick-pocketing me when I am otherwise distracted ..which of course is all the time so I am fair game

For fabric I use Murphy's Oil Soap. Rub it into the stain with a toothbrush before washing.

I don't know about you all, but I feel better just knowing I'm not the only one who's had a child doing art with a Sharpie in my busy/distracted moments.

Don't mean to laugh at your woe Donna, truly.  We can all just feel better that we're not alone, that all the other Moms on here, who we can tend to think "have it all together" more than we do, have the same awful, "Oh my goodness, what are you doing?!?" moments with their children too! 
One thing I've wondered for a long time is why do most kids carve or write their initals or name when they do something like this??? If I was going to get artistic with a knife or Sharpie, I wouldn't want my Mom to know who'd done it. I guess, it's 'cause they're not thinking they shouldn't be doing it. 
BTW Donna, I love you blog post about ds showing his little sister the ways of life. Too precious, what a great way to see it!

We have a four year old who did this not long ago...
Slats on both his and brother's bed, dresser drawers, the back of the door, and the wall. Came off of everything but the wall and the door (it just smeared on that...
Fortunately, I have long planned to paint their room, so it isn't a total disaster...now I just need to wait for the weather to clear.
I've tried all of these "clean ups" but the murphy's oil when my now 7 yr old was a good deal younger...none of them took it out... I just got used to putting the futon cover on one way only...til it wore out...lol

disguise it.. what about some of those removeable wall stickers? maybe you can find some to make the dresser "pretty" and cover the marks too

I know it's treasonous, but as i read this thread the frustrated artist in me keeps thinking of ways to "enhance" your budding artist's efforts! In a high school art class we had an assignment to create pictures from ordinary forms, such as a letter of the alphabet or ordinary scribbles. I would be sorely tempted to add leaves to your little artist's scribbles to make a lovely bouquet, or use metallic pens to add some shimmery accents to your little one's masterpiece. The only drawback is that in doing so you might encourage even MORE Sharpie doodling! I wonder if Monet's or Renoir's mothers had similar dilemnas! Sorry I'm no help in the clean-up department. In my old age I've actually been dabbling in decorating random walls, game boards, wooden boxes and the like with Sharpies and paint pens. The adage that you return to childhood the older you get must be true! Oneday your children will be absolutely horrified that you're marking all over things they were once forbidden to touch with markable objects!
ETA Donna, maybe you could suggest to Sharpie manufacturers that they sell markers with chains and/or locks attached, for mothers of klepto-toddlers!

Servant.. mine don't always decorate their OWN drawers or whatnot, or we might switch around furniture or something.

My son just finished up at OCS where they spent a lot of time cleaning. He shared a great tip - the Purell hand sanitizer is great at cleaning Sharpie off of lots of surfaces! It is now his go-to cleaning product.

Sorry that this comment is of NO help WHATSOEVER..but your post brought back alot of memories... 
Unfortunately WAY back in the 1950's I scraped my name into my bureau top. Have no memory of the occurance.... But have a lot of memories of Mom pointing it out to me and no matter how much time had passed she WASN'T happy about it.
Over the years my tag faded but if your knew what you were looking for it was always there...
It was the main reason I really REALLY regretting not being able to keep the bureau when we forced Mom to move into an assisted living apartment. But I had no room for it and a fellow parishioner was EXTREMELY appreciative and sooo happy to receive it for her daughter... Who hopefully didn't follow my lead and tag it

Don't know if this would help in your case, but once when my son wrote on a whiteboard with a permanent Sharpie instead of dry erase, tracing OVER it with the dry erase then using the dry erase eraser magically removed it completely and easily.

THANK you ladies! I am ckin in on the library computer as I have been offline due to a broken irreplaceable monitor cable. Still waiting the new pci card. oh well!
As for the sticker idea..I would be wallpapering with stickers if I covered up all we have!
I will keep trying. Those markers need some kind of fingerprint id to work! Right?!
