Well today I started to pull everything out!
It is amazing just how much I had crammed into that little room.

I've moved my pantry shelf that holds extra canned goods, cleaning products and other extra household items.

I've hung up my fold able clothes drying rack and since our laundry room isn't dry walled, I folded the larger standing drying rack and tucked it between the 2X4's behind my wall mounted fold able one. I also did the same with my ironing board and iron!

Now I have the task of going through the boxes of clothes from other seasons. I need to make donation boxes.

What do you do with clothes that are not worthy of donating (worn out etc.) Some I cut into rags, some I want to keep to make into dog beds. The rest though? I hate throwing things out, but don't want any more clutter. So any tips where I can take these?

I am going to post my progress, it might help keep me motivated!

Depends on what fabric they are made from.

One of my quilting friends loves getting all-cotton shirts, skirts, etc. to use in her quilting creations. She uses oxford cloth, calico, etc. If you have friends who quilt, you could ask them. (This works for fabric scraps from sewing projects, too.)

You might offer some to your local Freecycle community - they may need fabric for dog beds or rags, too.

I love old t-shirts for dusting and cleaning rags. But I only need so many. I usually send them on to donation anyway. Places like Goodwill or Salvation Army can send them on to textile recycling companies if they are too worn out for resale. Check before you donate though. Not every donation center may be able to do this.

I once rang my op-shop and asked, they said to send as they send on to the rag place for other purposes.

I have saved some of DHs special button downs for when I do get around to quilting with them.

I've been doing a lot of that sort of organizing and tidying and "disposing" of things we no longer want, need, or never even did! lol. My mudroom was one of those spaces. I've got cabinets over the w/d that need going through. But it is so nice to get it done and organized! I have found that visual chaos gets me more antsy the older I have gotten...I dread to think what I will be like in a few more decades!

I cut most of our non-donation clothes up for rags....and call before I send the rest over to any donation-place ..... sometimes they want them, sometimes not.
