Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Ahem. If anyone has a solution to either of these problems, please let me know!

1. "Washable" paint on clothing that isn't really washable. Two days of painting at the neighbors, and now I have four kid outfits with green paint that won't wash out. I have been surfing the internet to find a solution and have tried a couple of things with absolutely no luck.

2. Apparently I thought I'd help out the local recycling center by washing my latest Family Fun magazine this afternoon with a load of clothing and turning it into pulp. Two washes and several dryer runs later, still lots of white pulp clinging to the clothing.    Clothes are now in the dryer on the no heat/fluff cycle tumbling endlessly ... not sure what else to do at this point.

Possible solutions that I've had success with in both these situations:

1. Folex - it got model paint out of my son's clothes which is way more tenacious than water-based washable paint, so I have hope that it will work for you! spray - soak - scrub - repeat. This stuff is near miraculous.

2. Remove all clothes from dryer. Vacuum out dryer and lint trap. Take all clothes outside and shake VIGOROUSLY. If needed, wash, spin and shake again...then dry. You'll have to vacuum your dryer and lint trap again, but that should get most of the Family Fun out of the dryer.

Hope that helps, Melinda! Happy washing...or at least, I hope it's happy washing!! Let me know if you try that Folex and it works - that stuff has not ceased to amaze me YET!!!!!

Thanks, Jen. What should I do with the clothes until Folex arrives? Keep them wet... in a bucket with oxyclean water?

No luck shaking the lint off the clothing.. though my neighbors might have enjoyed seeing me out there in my bathrobe whipping clothes around tonight in the dark.    I think I will now try the rewash idea.

Yes, if you have to order the Folex, just soak until it arrives, but when I posted about the Folex on my blog, I had several people comment that they could find it locally. I'm pretty sure someone saw it at Home Depot. It might be worthwhile to call around and check tomorrow to see if someone locally carries it.

Too bad on the clothes shaking...I was going to mention I also have really good luck if I beat the clothes against the brick of our home. I am terrible about checking pockets and I am ALWAYS washing papers!!! So, I just take it outside and beat it like a rug against the bricks and that really helps grab the lint off the clothes. (This almost always happens with boy clothes, I find...so nothing really delicate or I wouldn't beat the clothes like a rug!)

Good luck with the Folex and the paint.

you might try fabric softener in the wash before shaking out the clothes.. it could be static causing it to hold on more than otherwise.

And I thought I was just a bad laundress. I *NEVER* check pockets either!

Do you have any old towels you could run thru the dryer with the clothes to take some of the lint out of your good clothes?

Thanks for all these suggestions... I'll be trying all of them. The pages dissolved into a very fine pulp that is now just stuck on everything.

I have the clothes in the washer this morning. I will try the fabric softener and an old towel.... then head to Lowes to look for Folex!
