Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Ladies I've been eyeing little flowery dresses online . I love little flowery dresses
I found some I really like at April Cornell they are so lovely ! However they are also pricey .
Michele mentioned on fb that maybe I could sew one . Now I am not a machine sewer . I tend to not enjoy the machine and find it a chore so use it very quickly .Otherwise I hand sew .
I have never attempted to hand sew a larger type item but maybe a little summer dress is a good place to start .
So patterns is my question .Where does one purchase nice dress patterns ? Canadian sources would be best but USA is ok too
Thanks Rox

Hi, Roxie-

Cyberspace is loaded with free patterns for just about anything you need
52 free dress patterns

These look fun to check out- and you can't beat the price.
I think it would be be very doable to sew a simple dress by hand.

Let us know what you make!

Rox,

I definitely think you could hand sew a few dresses!

Do you have access to the major pattern companies (Butterick, Simplicity, McCalls et. al.)? They have some cute designs.

I always check pattern review for a pattern first to sew how well others like it.

Serendipity Studio has some nice ones, Amy Butler too.

I love April Cornell dresses. Unfortunately, the ones I really like, don't look good on me. More like Aunt Bea. LOL. Short waisted hourglass. LOL

I've seen a couple of nice patterns, I'll see if can find the brand/numbers.

I'd think sewing machine sewing would be far faster (and therefore, you could make more dresses, more quickly).

I looked on ebay and yes there are some for sure !!
also looked at that serendipity site and wow I do like those patterns ! They are reasonable too. I think I can sew a dress if it is a light , small summery one . Oh I love & look great in littlew flower dresses but have not had one in a few yrs I just sort of got stuck in jeans I have gained a bit of wieght but I have no problem to loose it come spring plus being a super skinny gal it was nice to have a few pounds put on .I tend to be under wieght .I know the majority tend to struggle with loosing but there are those of us who struggle to gain .
Thanks for the encouragement !
Rox
