Spinoff thread!

We have fiberglass tubs and showers. They are SO hard to clean. Every time I find something that works, it gets discontinued.

Help! Share your favorite products and techniques, please...my mother-in-law is visiting soon and I'd love to show off a sparkling bathroom...

what are you cleaning off?

For instance.. the magic erasers are supposed to work well on soap scum, vinegar and elbow grease would also

CLR I think is the name of the product we used (not sure if it's still out there but I saw it within the last couple of years) and it helps get rust stains off (lime and calcium would be the L and c parts)

Once you get it clean.. use car wax (recommended here) on all the surfaces except where you stand to make it easy to keep clean plus you can use a squeegee after every shower on the walls and doors etc.. and you won't get build up.

It's mainly soap scum and hard water deposits.

Kaboom! The best for cleaning fiberglass tubs with well water. Strong smell though

question about waxing the tub: can you do this if it as used as a tub by babies? Not sure what the wax is made of, but I wouldn't want the babies bathing in toxic chemicals, lol

Another question about wax. Our shower has one of those rough floors to prevent slipping, kind of a sand texture. Do you think the wax would work on that kind of surface? Also, how often does it need to be applied? Thanks!

Kaboom and magic eraser works well for me. I don't find Kaboom that strong, and it's less toxic than some other cleaners.

If I find the previous thread that discusses Turtle Wax on the tub, it has some safety precautions.

I wouldn't wax the floor! I've never done this, but I would guess that the result would be kind of slippery - fine for tiled walls (is it okay for fiberglass walls for those who have tub enclosures?), but not a great idea for floors.

I would second Magic Eraser Sponges, Kaboom, and baking soda and vinegar . Elbow grease is definitely important, whatever else you use!

Peace,
Nancy

Yes, Nancy is right. Don't put it on the floor. Here's the original thread.
