Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I was looking for something for my 8yo to make for her Grandma for Christmas and saw these spool people Nativity set. We made them this morning and they were really easy to do and I think they turned out really cute. She handled the glue gun nicely, but the rubbing on of the faces was a little tricky so I tried to touch those up for her. The spools, wooden heads and rub on faces were from Michaels and we used upholstery fabric samples someone had passed on to us for the clothes. You could save some money by just painting on the faces, but buying the paint and tiny brush would have been more than just buying the sheet of rub on faces.

Here's the blog I found them on (we didn't really follow directions though, but still think they turned out cute.

Those are SO cute!

My son discovered a "family" craft idea in the Catholic Treasure Box books - using clothespins (NOT the spring kind). But 1) they weren't easy to find with round tops at a cheap price 2) they had to be cut to size which I didn't mind doing since I make wood items anyway but 3) I have so many thread spools! AND scrap fabric! And we could do a papier-mache ball for the heads!

I'm putting this one in our craft ideas box. When he's ready for more, this is what we're doing!

Thank you for sharing!
