We went camping this past weekend and brought home a TON of acorns. DH seems to think that we can make something edible as in to eat these acorns. So I'm asking you lovely ladies if you have heard of eating acorns from the ground outside? If so, what kind of stuff do you make, bake, etc? Are ther any websites, links, recipes you like better than others on how to prepare them to eat? I guess I just have never heard of this before and according to my dh "since the indians ate them in the winter and squirrels eat them they should be okay for us to eat" I just don't want any of us to get sick!! Thank you

Don't eat them raw or you will get sick.

Here's one way to prepare them for grinding into flour:

Acorns

I have tried squaw bread made from acorn flour (in a live-off-the-land cooking class many years ago) and it was pretty dry and tasteless, as I recall. Hopefully someone else has had a better acorn experience.
