Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I used the recipe from the Pillsbury flour bag last year when I made them and they came out great! Here is a link . The recipe on the bag is slightly different from this one in that you don't brush with egg whites before baking. Instead, after removing from the water and placing on baking sheet you sprinkle with coarse salt (or sesame seeds, or poppy seeds), bake for eight minutes, then brush with 2T. melted butter. Bake an additional 2 minutes or until golden brown and after removing from oven brush with any remaining butter. They were definitely a hit.
As a matter of fact I am planning to make them today since we have yet another snow day here on Long Island!

I'm pretty sure it's 2 1/4 teaspoons.

Recipe sounds delicious Chris!

This thread from several years ago has some links of possibilities.

We recently made Auntie Anne style pretzels (cinnamon sugar!) and they turned out great. Keep in mind that when rolling a pretzel you want to roll it VERY thin because it will rise a second time.

We're kind of pretzel crazy in this part of the country. I never knew that until I grew up and lived elsewhere. I was shocked to find that most stores in the country don't actually have an entire aisle of pretzels in the grocery store! Seriously!

You can also make them without butter. We can't have butter during Lent (nor eggs or other animal products).

Simple flour, water, yeast, sugar to feed the yeast and salt.
