I am looking for a wrist warmer knitting pattern, but I need it for two needles---I have never learned to knit on double pointed needles

Joann, I have made them out of a tube assembled from a rectangle of 2 x 2 rib, and with a gap left as you seam it for popping the thumb through.

I make mine without the thumb hole. I cast on 34 stitches and just do a stockinette stitch. I bet you could add a couple of stitches to make up for having a seam and knit the stockinette stitch for 11 inches. I use worsted weight yarn. Joann, double pointed needles are really easy, you just have to learn to maneuver them. I bet you could do it!

JoAnn ... I'm so sorry I haven't answered you sooner! You could take a round pattern and convert it to a seamed one by inc for the thumb (or putting the sts on hold till you finish the rest) and then put in a seam. But I'm with KC ... dpns are fun to use and altho seemingly prickly and persnickety at times (I always count 'em again, cuz it always feels like the dpns have spawned more when I wasn't looking ) they are master-able!

Oh, and I second (third) the idea that knitting on double pointed needles is NOT that hard. Really. Just make sure you get the right length for your project so you don't have to constantly worry about stitches falling off.

Knittinghelp.com has many helpful instructional knitting videos. I bet she has done something on knitting with DPN's.

Those are nice! I want to make some Fetching fingerless gloves (pattern on knitty.com) which are knit in the round, after I finish the calorimetry headbands I'm working on now.
