Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I thought I'd start a thread about favorite Christmas recipes. Mine comes from my grandma, who was born in Arkansas, raised in whatever mining or mill towns in the south offered work to her dad, and was very much a Southern Cook. This recipe, which she made every Christmas, is a ratio recipe. Expand it as you need.

Christmas fruit salad

1 orange, peeled and cut up very fine
1 apple, peeled and cut up very fine
1 banana, peeled and cut up very fine
1 small can crushed pineapple, drained

Mix all together and add more sugar than you think you ought. Add a little more sugar. Let this sit in the refrigerator for at least a week to get a little fermented, just a little, and enjoy on Christmas day. It's a nice foil for the heavy food.

I hope to see other favorites from the rest of you!
