Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

What do you do with your well-worn clothes that your kids grow out of? Goodwill asks for "gently" used clothes. By the time we finish with an article of clothing, it rarely meets that description. But I can't help thinking that someone, somewhere, can benefit from them.

We have a local woman who makes quilts for the homeless in NYC and Philly. We send her the ragged stuff since she uses stuff like that to stuff the quilts. Here is her website. Maybe you have someone in your area who does the same thing.

T-shirts are turned into rags, saves me money so I don't have to buy them.

Jeans can be given to someone who weaves, my 16 dd just wove a great kitchen rug for me this year from left over jeans.

I trim up the useable parts and make cloth napkins.

Molly you are just one county over so maybe yours will do this too...but our county landfill has a recycling area for textiles. The our landfill also has an area where you can drop off clothes to let people look through and then what doesn't get taken that day, they put in recycling...but if it's not wearable enough, you could just put it in recycling.

There also use to be a local charity around here, SERVE (I don't know if it's anywhere else) that use to take the not so great clothes because they'd turn them into rags and construction and maid services would come and get them.
