I'm still working on our menu, but basically it's the same as last year minus one or two dishes that didn't go over as well as I had hoped.
Here is what I have so far:
Turkey
Ham
Mashed Potatoes - Gravy
Stuffing
Mixed Salad with Cranberry Vinaigrette
Rice Marinated Artichoke Salad
Parmesan Butternut Squash Gratin
Green Beans with Glazed Shallots in Lemon-Dill Butter
Ultimate Creamed Corn
Cranberry Sauce
Candied Yams w/ Marshmallows
Crescent Rolls
Dessert
Eggnog Pots de Creme
Pumpkin Caramel Cheesecake (maybe -- it's HEAVY)
Jell-O Cloud
Apple Pie
Pumpkin Chiffon Pie (1st time, but it's sugar free which is perfect for my DH)

LEFTOVERS 8-)
We will be feeding at least 30 people...maybe more.
 Well, it may be called something else, but it's just jello with cool whip added before it sets. It's simple to make and light as a feather which is perfect after a heavy meal. Tastes good, too.

last month my mom asked me to prepare Spaghetti Puttanesca for Thanksgiving, which is not traditional at all. but i said yes.
today she tells me there's family coming over (to her house) and it's their first Thanksgiving so she wants to do turkey ahd ham.
i volunteered to do the turkey. she's very happy that she doesn't have to do it.
she tells me about this smoked turkey she's heard of
and i say i'll take care of it, i'll make whatever turkey recipe i find around here in my files.
and then she goes
but please don't put stuffing in it
i said
i won't, i'll leave it unstuffed
she says
'cause those boxed stuffings are no good anyway, they never taste right
i go
mom, you know i never make stuffing from a box, i always make it from scratch
she says
well then that should be good
so i guess i'm making stuffing too (probably a traditional cornbread-sage-sausage one)
she asks
will you make gravy too
i say i will
what about cranberry sauce?
i guess i'll make that too!
and of course, if i'm making turkey and gravy and stuffing and cranberry sauce, i might as well make green bean casserole and sweet potato souffle and pumpkin pie too. maybe i'll even sneak in an apple crisp.
she's very happy, and i love my mom
but this soooo reminded me of "When You Give A Mouse A Cookie".

Growing up, we always celebrated Thanksgiving with my dad's side of the family and Christmas with my mom's side. With my Dad's side being Italian, our "traditional" Thanksgiving meal has always been lasagna, even though my dad's family doesn't spend Thanksgiving with us anymore. So lasagna it is! My mom is making it, though. I'll be bringing a dessert--not sure what yet.
Then Friday is Thanksgiving at my Filipino in-laws' house. We'll probably be doing Chinese.

When we have Thanksgiving pot luck with family it's usually with pancit and kare-kare. But yeah, turkey congee is a must for the day after, as it is in most Chinese-American households.

I was just coming to post a similar question. Usually we go to my in-laws but this year they are coming here. I don't do turkey because we don't like it much and we have a small family to cook a big turkey. So, I ordered a glazed ham (My dh is going to scream when he sees ho much I am paying for it ) Then I decided I am going to cook a turkey breast in the crockpot so that I won't feel too bad for depriving my family of this very American tradition.
As far as side dishes go,we are having:
mash potatoes
sweet potatoes
something green- salad?
something fruity (like cranberry sauce)
some vegetables (probably green beans)
homemade rolls
and something for dessert-probably pecan pie and chocolate pie.

This is a very simple recipe that my dear friend (since jr. high) has shared with us. We grew up near the home of Ocean Spray Cranberries and always try to include great things using cranberries.
2 c bisquick mix
1 c granulated sugar
3 tbs melted butter
2/3 c milk
1 egg unbeaten
2 c whole cranberries
Heat oven to 350. Grease & lightly flour 9X9X2 cake pan. In med bowl with fork, combine bisquick mix and sugar. Stir in butter, milk and egg until well blended; fold in cranberries. Pour into cake pan. Bake 40-45 minutes. Let cool about 1 hour in pan; then turn out onto wire rack.
Serve with Butter Sauce:
in small saucepan, combine 1/4 c butter, 1/2 c sugar and 1/3 c light cream. Cook over low heat 5 min. Drizzle over cranberry cake. Enjoy!!

My favorite punch is ginger ale poured over the tri-flavored sherbet. Mmmm... Maybe I'll have that, too!
I LOVE thanksgiving dinner! (And I'm so happy that I live a good distance from family, so I don't deal with the family issues and can have everything JUST the way I like it! That's so terrible of me!)

My husband decided that since his birthday falls on Thanksgiving this year, that THIS is the year... that he gets a turducken! For the uninitiated, that is a mostly de-boned turkey (all except wings and legs) stuffed with a de-boned duck stuffed with a de-boned chicken. Actually, all the ones we could find were too big for us, so we went with a turducken roll, which is just the respective breasts.
A favorite punch recipe for us is one that I got from a friend:
1 qt. cranberry juice
1 qt. apple juice
1 cup orange juice
tie up in cheesecloth:
3 cinnamon sticks
1 tsp. whole cloves
1 tsp. whole allspice
Simmer an hour or two (taste to see if the spices have infused to your liking), remove spices, and serve warm. My husband claims it's good with a shot of rum, but I just take his word for it.

And, I forgot, this time of year my dad likes to make 'Wassail.' He pours of bottle of apple juice into his crockpot, adds a package of red hots, and turns it onto high. Warm, cinnamon-y deliciousness.
