I'm thinking of kicking starting my much needed weight loss this season with a two week induction to help decrease my and dh's massive sugar cravings.

I need to feed the kids the same menu, I'll just add fruit and brown rice,etc. as needed to the meals for them.

I have a couple low carb cook books that work great for dinners, I'm just stuck on breakfast and lunch ideas. Now that it's colder, I can't bare to have cold salads every day.

My husband does the low carb diet, so we have eggs for breakfast a lot. plain fried or scrambled eggs weekdays, omelettes on weekends, since they take longer to make.

I am supposed to be on a low-carb diet, and I agree, breakfast and lunch are hard! I often just have a bowl of cottage cheese or plain yogurt. I was eating a lot of eggs, until the meds that I am on started making me feel nauseous, then the eggs had to go! I have a couple of turkey breasts in the freezer that I have been meaning to fix in the crockpot so that I will have some meat for lunch. Maybe a big batch of soup that I could eat through the week would be good, too. I also snack on cheddar cheese, nuts, and pumpkin or squash seeds. Oh, and I'll eat some refried beans with cheddar melted over the top. I would love more ideas - eating the same old thing is getting, well, old! Plus, I think the lack of variety is making it harder not to give in to things I shouldn't be eating.

Lack of variety is killing me. And lack of time for looking for options. I did the 2 week no carb thing and felt great and lost 8 lbs. But, I am slipping and need to get back on board. I am looking forward to suggestions here.
I do love my salads-however if I see another chicken breast.....

I did a low carb diet in the summer and lost 20 lbs very quickly...I would agree that breakfast and lunch are the hardest. Here are some ideas:

Breakfast:

-eggs (scrambled, hard boiled, made into omelettes)
-plain yogurt with fresh or frz. berries (can add a packet of splenda or stevia for some sweetness)
-protein bar


Lunch:

Lots of green salads...I would make extra chicken etc for dinner to have leftovers for lunch with a green salad or
Salad with nuts and seeds
Salad with tuna
Salad topped with shrimp stir fried in garlic and a bit of oil
Greek salad with feta cheese
Salads with goat cheese and nuts
Sometimes (when on sale) I would by vacuum packed   frozen fillets of wild salmon. I would cook one of those with garlic and butter and eat vegetables on the side.
Lettuce wraps: 1 large leaf of romaine lettuce with a couple of slices of roast turkey or ham inside (can add condiments as well (mustard, mayo..I would use roasted red peppers) add a few small slices of cheese or a cheese stick inside, roll it up and I hardly missed bread!
Sometimes when in a hurry I would crack open a can of ready made chili...watch brands for carb counts (some are higher than others)
Vegetable soups and stews and vegetable stir fry's are good as well(with no noodles, of course)

All in all, I never found myself hungy eating like this. Since then I have added a whole grain and more fruit to my breakfast but I continue to eat protein/vegetable combinations for lunch and dinner and I avoid sugar and sweets like the plague! Even though I still have weight to lose, I feel this is a plan I can stick with for the long run.

Oops! Sorry, missed the part about not wanting to eat cold salads!

Eating high protein is more expensive and often not convenient to prepare. Also, it's not typically what my kids want to eat...so i would feed them what they wanted (often sandwiches, mac and cheese, fruit, cheese, crackers) and I would fix myself something different...it just worked out better that way. Hubby often takes dinner leftovers to lunch so he eats low carb at work. The only time we would all eat the same thing for lunch was when I made a soup/stew or made chili enough for us all.
